Terrible ratings. It needs to get over 2million. 2.5million really as 2million is not many people watching. this has been a mess. It is full of very attractive people it's like hollyoaks in a house.

That's surprising, however, it makes me wonder what it would have got if the eviction was just a 90 minute show.

They should definitely try 9pm. If it can peak with 2.1m up against MPD which is worse competition than some of the big 9pm offerings throughout the week, they could have a real chance of rescuing the series. The only night that would pose a true threat is Monday with Embarrassing Bodies.”

Definitely agree with your sentiment Grenade. As for trying 9pm, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays are no go's due to the opposition while Thursday they can't do due to the Europa League so they could only do Tuesday and Wednesday with Friday for eviction.

I think that's really harsh and unfair, last nights episode saw a significant rise so the show surely still has legs. Few would have expected such a big rise given the weeks ratings. Credit where it's due.

I don't think anyone is getting "too excited." As I said it's a step in the right direction but I'm under no illusions that it could change again for the worse tonight. I'm taking it day by day. Yesterday people on here were happy to basically write the entire series off and I don't think anyone honestly hand on heart expected a 1.8m average and a 2.1m peak for last night, so it's pleasing to read some FMers adjusting their line on it slightly today. Not so over on the BB forum of course, where even last night's result is apparently bad. But you'll never win praise from the uber-harsh critics over there so you can't have everything.

I'm off to enjoy my weekend. It's my birthday tomorrow, hopefully the ratings gods are kind once again.

ITV doing one of those 'feel good' Christmas shows you get in primetime every so often: http://insideireland.ie/2011/09/13/c...as-show-34453/

Also a new ITV1 gameshow: http://www.goggleboxentertainment.co...ing-game-show/

How many gameshows are promoted as 'biggest' and 'most exciting'... really?

And finally, the "stars" appearing on 'Stars in a Spin' include Christopher Biggins, Joe Swash, John Barnes, Adele Silva, Jodie Prenger, Rachel Riley.... sounds like typical ITV, that.

I really don't agree. Whilst this week hasn't rated well at all, for it to get an overnight 600k boost and a 400k week average boost is very encouraging. It was the highest rated show since the launch by quite a margin and its a rare occurence for any show throughout the run to manage that. It suggests that there is some wider interest outside of the 1.4m who have watched this week but the challenge is getting them to watch most nights.

Before last night it did appear unsalvagable but they've got a slight glimmer of hope depending on how they go about the next week or so.

I wouldn't take much notice of them, they still think its a massive X Factor type show and could get BB3 ratings with the right housemates and promo blaming it squarely on live feed. Its probably the least watched eviction ever but its important to look at the figures in context of today. My only worry is the actual eviction show only getting 1.3m. Admittedly they usually do poor and most will have seen the result but its just on too late. They should push The Bachelor back to 10.30pm and have a 90 minute programme. That was one of the big problems with the Channel 4 show and Channel 5 appeared to get it right in CBB, it just needed a few more minutes for the interview.

One more thought to ponder before I leave, wasn't this week Freshers Week? I wonder what impact that might have had, with a lot of the TA out enjoying themselves?

No, Fresher's Week is either this week or next week. Depending on what week you start Uni, of course...

Also worth noting after the bullshit from Jeff Ford where he stuck two fingers up at the shows loyal fans and said he was after the casual audience that why would a "casual" audience watch a show for an hour a night (two including Bit on the Side), every night for three months. The seven day scheduling is yet another issue C5 failed to address when aquiring the rights.

People completely miss the point though - it's not just about those watching the live feed, it's about the chatter the live feed generates - basically 24/7 talk on forums, content for both fansites and sites like Digital Spy and up to date info in the press. And yes the raw numbers may not have seemed significant with the E4 live streaming, but the reach was.

Everyone who throws the live feed argument back in peoples faces assumes people watched it 24/7, or through HMs sleeping - but it was the people dipping in and out of it which really was significantly and provided far more of a boost for the main shows than any promotion ever could.

Although the highest audience in Big Brother's worst week ever is nothing to shout about.

It'll be interesting to see though in the officials how C5's overall share for the week compares with the same week last year - and I guess in the demos as well.

Promising for BB last night. There's still a long way to go but it's a step in the right direction. Good for The Bachelor too.

Stars In A Spin was just a pilot so hopefully it won't make it to air. The Christmas show sounds alright though. I wont judge the gameshow yet as we don't know anything about it yet. If they're doing auditions in October though then the chances are it'll be filming early next year, which could mean it'll be airing alongside BGT in the Spring. Could mean that Sing If You Can has been axed.

A few other bits:

-ITV's sports panel show pilot mentioned yesterday is being recorded next week so we'll find out pretty soon if there will be a full series.
-There will be 6 celebrity specials of The Chase and they are being recorded next month, so they'll probably air in January. I really hope ITV don't run with The Chase then Primeval and then Take Me Out on Saturdays and that they have something bigger lined up (ie. Dancing On Ice).
-Harry Hill's TV Burp is being recorded on Thursdays from October 6th, so will almost certainly be back on Saturday 8th. Once again there will be 8 episodes.
-Michael Buble is doing a Christmas music special for ITV called 'Michael Buble: Home For The Holidays'.

This information is all from Lost In TV, SRO Audiences and TV Recordings.

WWE is also one of the few things that has a genuine global audience which makes trending across all of Twitter much easier. I agree that its basically meaningless though.

Presumably it'll air in the slot before The X Factor which means a clash with Strictly rather than Merlin.

Over the past two weeks several Dutch TV shows with young viewership have been trending worldwide, none of those broke a million viewers in ratings though. Just a lot of chatter about them on twitter. What the shows did have in common was a huge portion of 20-49 so I guess it is more a tool to see if a show is advertiser friendly.

Nice recovery for BB after a poor first week, but I was expecting to see some form of boost. The 2nd show held up better than I thought, as I had visions of sub 1m. I still think having that 11pm edition every week is a bit risky though especially if ratings tumble any further. Next week will be interesting for the show...

so we dont know the ratings for the main channels yet?

Minor bounce for BB, but doesnt the eviction night always rate higher? Still nothing to write home about being under 2m IMHO.

I thought DCI Banks would have been closer to 5m. What did it average last series? Sure it was closer to 6m in the overnights.

Me too. It averaged 5.7m in the overnights for its last 2-part series, which aired on Mondays. It's only going to fall from now on, especially in two weeks' time when it faces SCD.

I guess its better than all the other shows that air in that slot, but it seems like a waste too to dump it in the Friday 9pm slotl. I've never watched it so I don't know how good it is but I reckon aired on a Monday it would have gained another 1m or so viewers. How many weeks is SCD on a Friday for? Yeah it will be dented loads, 3.5m tops perhaps?
