ITV Press Centre
8.1 million viewers (peak) (7.8m excl +1) watched @redorblack on @ITV1.
They are boasting about the fact the most hyped new show in years couldn't even attract 8m peak viewers after all the millions spent on it and the publicity?

I'll piss myself if Countryfile beats it tonight....

Am doing a graph now based on the breakdowns, will be up very soon...

EDIT - no, the answer is - 5.5m (25.9%) versus 5.8m (26.9%)...
Almost a dead heat, and DW will win in the official ratings, at least in the head to head period!

What are you blathering about? I predicted 6.5m and was accused by you and ian of under predicting when really that was the level it was going to hit. 2nd show being higher than the first is hardly a sign of crisis.

Is it the most hyped new show in years though? Yes it has been advertised a hell of a lot by ITV but the press haven't been bothered by it like they are by Cowell's other shows. In terms of advertising, just a few months ago Luther series 2 had more advertising than RoB. However there is no denying that it has been very heavily promoted and I suspect ITV are a bit disappointed, but it is still a good launch rating.

Yesterday's ratings were pretty much bang on what the average predictions on the RPG were: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...&postcount=688

So it's not like anything underperformed (or overperformed for that matter) compared to the general expectations of almost 40 players on the game.

Yay for Red or Black!

A totally rubbish rating when you considered the relentless promos for months for this piece of junk. It will surely go lower.

We don't know yet. Calm down. I'm sure it'll be posted at some point, either today or tomorrow when the press will report it.

Firstly, excellent for TXF. Three eps in and all the signs are extremely good. 11.1m inc. +1 is up on last year. Now, RoB. Pretty much in line with how I thought it would rate. Haven't seen the second show yet, but my thoughts are on the first show wasn't good. I really can't see this working all week. It will drop tonight and Corrie looks in trouble now as it out of its usual slot. Imagine the figures when its up against EE on Monday. Sub 5m maybe? I think the fact it was plugged to death hasn't helped matters. I think the only is down now.

I'm sure ITV1 bosses, and the advertiser clients who pay the bills, are delighted their big new hope rated in line with a random group of punters on an internet forum....

And that everyone is praising the new show to the heavens!

Given the reviews and wotnot, I would find it absolutely ironic if it actually increased or was stable tonight compared to last night, here's ITV1's schedule tonight:

18:45 - Red or Black
20:00 - Coronation Street
20:30 - Red or Black
21:00 - Appropriate Adult

Nice to see Doctor Who did some damage to Cowell's newest money spinner.

Just a shame that any dismay caused by Red and Black's disappointing rating will be healed up the X-Factor's typical high rating, especially since it was just so dull last night.

I'm going to go out and say that CBB will hit 2m just because at one point, 5 related BB topics all trended which has not happened since launch.
Trending topics don't mean good ratings, they just mean those who are watching are talking about it a lot.

...or not enjoying it, in the case of certain shows.

ITV1 did fantastically last night.

I bet the BBC can't wait for Strictly to start now. I wonder if they will beat last year's highest ever figures?
