Pretty heavy news month - Hurricane Irene and Libya pushing ratings up towards the end of the month. CNN benefitting most as well as gaining through moving Anderson Cooper into the 8pm slot. Lawrence O'Donnell was out for much of August so his numbers are lower than they otherwise would be.”

So fox telling the troth that they are the most watched.

The averages excluding +1 for ITV look like they are approximately 6.8m, 4.6m, 7.1m and 4.6m. Not very good for Corrie, it has to be said.

I forced my self to sit through Dread & Slack last night (well Sky+ so i could skip the ads). The poor guy looked devasted when he chose the wrong colour. However as a viewer I felt cheated in the fact that the whole event leading up to this had been a complete waste of time. I watched the stunt with the guy jumping off the roller coaster with friends in a local bar. Several of them commented whats the point of that.. One even suggested to spice it up, two jumpers should jump off at the same time, one parachute opens the other doesn't. Im sure that would get the ratings ITV want, however unless it was Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole doing the jumping there may be several viewer complaints.

Having said that Red or Black biggests problem is the long drawn out format and is not suited to be stripped accross 1 week. Perhaps ITV should consider an hour long format to be shown in a Saturday Xfactor sandwich slot.

Red or Black?

More like Read The Last Rites!

Brave effort for the Beeb's Operation Get ROB A Second Series last night, but a valiant failure.

When's this Cowell press conference? Please someone ask him how it feels to spend £15m on a show and see it beaten by Countryfile and Who Do You Think You Are, whilst beating Univetsity Challenge by only a million?

What odds on Watchdog, yes Watchdog!, being the latest show to inflict misery on Red and Dead tonight?

Not sure about timeshift, as Hollyoaks doesn't even make it into Barb's Channel 4 top 30. I doubt it would show a different pattern though. Also there is the advert skipping to bare in mind with officials as well, so not sure if Channel 4 would have much use for them.

ITV (inc ITV+1)
06:00 - Daybreak: 0.8m (18.9%)
08:30 - Lorraine: 0.9m (17.1%)
09:25 - The Jeremy Kyle Show: 1.4m (24.8%)
18:30 - ITV News & Weather: 3.7m (19.5%)
19:00 - Emmerdale: 7.1m (33.8%)
20:00 - Red or Black?: 4.8m (21.0%)
21:00 - Coronation Street: 7.5m (29.2%)
21:30 - Red or Black?: 4.7m (19.1%)
22:00 - ITV News at Ten & Weather: 2.2m (10.3%)
22:35 - FILM: Mystery Men: 0.7m (7.4%)”

Yikes this is not good for R&B, considering these include +1, also it seems to be hurting Coronation St as well. I'm sure Corrie could have been pulling high 8 millions if it had been in it's regular slots this week (with it having been advertised as a big week). On the bright side Emmerdale is benefiting immensely from this week's scheduling.

Emmerdale almost beat Corrie which was no doubt dragged down by the poisonous sandwich of ROB. Emilia Fox must indeed be one of Britain's most popular actresses as Who Do You think You Are boasted last night, it went up and finally killed off ROB and possibly hurt Corrie.

ITV need to realise sticking the same presenters on a 'new' show takes 50% off that show to begin with.

No doubt Cowell will use the media fury over the winner who served time for the shows weak performance.but going from Twitter last night it was all Negative comments just how poor the show is itself.

Sam, to be fair the ratings for last night were awful considering the competition.

The question should be will CBB and Torchwood both beat ROB, previously thought that unlikely, now i'm not so sure.

I reckon CBB is going to be dented by changing the start time back to 9pm. Silly move when all the magazines advertise it as 9.30pm. They obviously realised they couldn't fit 7 evictions and highlights into a 90 minute slot, but surely this has been planned for in advance?

What? I thought it was on at 9:30pm! See, this is the sort of stuff people should know.

The first part is up against Coronation Street so CBB will be lucky to have 2.5m viewers from 9-9.30. I can't see the average going much above 3m, let alone 4m. Torchwood and Red or Black have nothing to worry about. I'm thinking something along the lines of:

Torchwood- 3.7m
Red or Black- 4.2m
CBB- 3m

I really believe that ITV need to move away from the Syco format. In order for them to rebuild they need to try something new and different Red or Black is just Xfactor/BGT without the talent. Same sad stories, moody music. They need to look towards new talent. Ant & Dec are never going to be the ratings winners they used to be as ITV have over used them in the past. I wonder If Red or Black will damage their reputation and lead to a loss in ratings for I'm a Celebrity? ITV need to build for the future and nuture new talent. ITV needs to have stronger programming with better ratings, without them the BBC can take their foot off the pedal and the viewer will suffer with a loss of quality programming.

Exactly! The only way I found out was someone mentioning it on this thread. It doesn't look too promising, especially with last nights show rating very average. I must say I watched the first few episodes, but since then I've just been watching the evictions, because absolutely nothing has been going on. The production of the episodes is excellent and they're doing the best they can with poor material really.

It's now safe to say Red or Black will be a one-off event. It proves Simon Cowell isn't invicible after all. I have to give him credit as he did have a go to recreating a tv event which doesn't feature singers, dancers or celebrities eating jungle grub. However, due to the way the show has been produced, it hasn't worked. One question is whether ITV will make a profit this week.

That said, I won't be surprised if it makes money for ITV if Simon Cowell ships it abroad. Minute to Win It has fizzed on US television ratings wise but it's making money NBC by shipping it abroad. The show has been popular in Germany, even beating The Cube head to head earlier this year.

I agree.

I predict 3m for the show tonight.
Red or Black will get around 4m, Corrie around 7m and Torchwood around 4m.
