Taggart ran from the second week of DA. So the DA launch should definetly see a Scottish boost as STV had an old documentary in that slot last year

I think it was a revisited episode, so would have rated lower than normal anyway, but shunted out of it's normal slot and performed very poorly. A prime example of where CBB is not helping other shows. Really needs moving away from CBB/BB next year as its capable of anchoring a night by itself. At 9pm surely Cowboiy Builders revisted could have got 1.3-1.5 million?

Rosencrantz, who also commissioned Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? when at ITV, said there was a world of difference in the eyes of viewers between a worthy Judith Keppel becoming the first to win £1m because of her knowledge of English history, and a winner who has simply been lucky.”

Definitely agree with the last bit - there's a world of difference between Millionaire and Red or Black.

That is appalling, half an hour of ITV's new £15m gameshow only averaging 850,000 more than 2 hours of one of the least watched finals of an 11 year old clapped out reality show.

Both Corrie and Celebrity Juice appear to have taken a hit by Celebrity Big Brother too, but the 3m isn't looking good for a big figure for tonights launch. 3.5m maximum I think.

100% the problem.
No skills when most of the country is struggling to even pay basic stuff.

Seeing someone win a million for Genuine skill is good viewing this isnt.ITV can also wakeup and realise putting the same presenters on shows over and over just isnt cutting it anymore.

Completely agree DMN, you've no empathy with the contestants of RoB. You don't feel they've earned it or deserve to win, you just don't care about them at all.

On Millionaire, you can so easily put yourself in the contestants shoes. Would you gamble what you've already won? Would you risk the 50/50? Much higher degree of viewer involvement.

Even Million Pound Drop, you can become quite involved in it, and you do feel sorry for them if they loose as they had to try hard to get to the last part.

You do have to wonder what is going on at ITV. Its one thing to spend a spring/summer trying out new formats. However, there seems to have been very little in the way of "quality control". And now it transpires that Red or Black was previously rejected. Was a pilot made this time around?

I'm trying to decide whether its all a brave experiment or serious commissioning errors?

I honestly thought RoB had stabilised at 5m, which was by no means a huge success but respectable nonetheless - but 3.8m

If those extra 1.5m new viewers liked what they saw, they might decide to choose WD next week over the soap hour. Likewise, the 2m extra TOS viewers on Wednesday.

Great bit of public service broadcasting by ITV this week, putting out a Cowell flop show for 90 mins a night. Most charitable of them!

Perhaps they're limbering up to make a lot of noise when the "TXF Sunday", Doc Martin, Downton Abbey triumvirate return to inflict obliteration on everyone else's ratings...

....just like "TV event of the year" Red and Black was supposed to!

I've been away for a while and haven't had time yet to go back over the ratings but am I correct in thinking EE is now consistently out-rating Corrie ?

Disaster of a night for ITV1, bar Emmerdale, which is the only show that has benefited from this weeks crazy scheduling. Very poor for Corrie and the sooner it's restored to its normal slot next week the better. I wonder if viewers realise its on twice tonight, with episode one in its normal 19.30 slot?

As for RoB...

What a total disaster. Imagine how low it will sink tonight? It's got EE again tonight so disaster surely beckons. As I said yesterday, the sooner RoB is over the better. How anyone at ITV HQ thought this was a good idea is beyond me?! Did no one watch the tapes before it aired? Or did they just think Cowell won't let us down and lets just run with it?

Those are some horrible numbers for Red or Black. Although they're made incredibly amusing by the fact they came hot on the heels of Cowell proclaiming the show was averaging 5 million viewers and likely to come back for a second series. Are people still feeling confident that The X Factor will be enough to drag it up to somewhat respectable levels on Saturday?

Of course the real issue for ITV now isn't Red or Black but the effect its having on Coronation Street. Below 7 million last night is awful.

A pretty great night for the BBC. Watchdog over performed thanks to Red or Black and despite going up against Corrie for half an hour Torchwood was at least stable.

Decent figures for Celeb Big Brother. Although as ever the real test is ahead with the regular series. And is that a slight increase for The Killing on Channel 4?

So at 8.45pm, around 2m more people were viewing BBC1 than ITV1.

No - on Saturday 15th July 2006, Pokerface had 3.21m in the officials versus Sport Relief (4.63m). It was the only show of the day however to get into ITV1's Top 30 for that particular week, the rest of the schedule that day was under 2.26m.

This time last week everyone here was saying how well it was going to do and expecting large ratings, how quickly the world of TV moves. Personally I couldn't understand how everyone thought that because the whole concept of the show sounded utter rubbish to me and just because SC was involved doesn't make something good or make people want to watch it, thought 4-5m was the best it would manage so even i'm slightly suprised that its gone even lower than that, I might have said all this last week but feared the wrath of the people who thought otherwise. Hope that didn't sound too smug because I feel oddly smug at the moment heh.

I don't think it is too bad. Percentage share wise, it is not a massive world away from Channel 4 and the gap between Channel 4's overnights from 2009 and 2010 and Channel 5's 2011 overnights is not by any means massive

I would have liked it to be nearer to 3m, but its not in any stretch of the imagination a disaster. Hopefully the 2.5m is a 'building base' and it can build from that on Channel 5 in the future.

The only time they're quiet is when ITV is doing poorly or when BBC1 is having a great night. Funny that.

They're out in full force when something on BBC1 flops.

I think it shows a pettiness on their part but it's funny.
