I think there's a decent chance that this could be the final season for both Miami and New York. Obviously a lot is going to depend on how CBS' schedule shakes out over the season (and not just new shows but some returning shows like The Good Wife, Blue Bloods and Hawaii Five-0) but neither show is in a particularly strong position right now. It may become a question as to whether or not the syndication revenue is enough to make producing more episodes worthwhile or not and whether that's enough to offset any loses CBS face by continuing to air shows which have dramatically dropped their audience but not their budgets.
In general though this coming season could be a very difficult one for CBS because they've made some decisions that have the potential to backfire in a major way.
Back on UK ratings
Doc Martin returns big and after Red or Black last week finally some good news for ITV1. More good news for them in that Corrie bounced back from last weeks performance with a strong showing as well.
Over on BBC1 The Queens Palaces did about as well as can be expected. In fact given the performance of ITV1 it may have done much better than expected. Outside of the Corrie/Red or Black pairing didn't anything on ITV hold up that well against New Tricks?
I'm slightly disappointed in that number for Dispatches on 4. Although it was a bit of a mixed bag I thought the subject matter would grab a slightly bigger audience than that.
