Jeeez, we only had Java in BlueJ and then Eclipse. Heard 2nd year was horrible and so's 3rd year Glad I didn't stay tbh... They've started C and stuff.

French and European, thats a dramatic change Glad you found a way to work through it though but I felt the same in 1st year. I was fine in all the other classes but programming was such a bitch! And yeah, I swear they've had years and years of experience. I was always one of the last people to leave a lab as I took forever to complete them, if I did!
Eclipse is a lifesaver!

Well, I always wanted to do languages originally, and I still sometimes kind of wish I did, but I just wasn't sure what it'd lead me to do as I don't think my career prospects would have been remotely as good.

Yes not doing my labs was part of the reason I failed Semester 1 programming.

Haha, ohwell, its over now for me. Haha, we had to do our labs. They counted towards our exam exemption - which weirdly enough I qualified to do the exemption project, but no way was I spending hours do that project. I actually wanted to sit that exam instead

Ok, Saturdays tickets are solved Friend A found someone and I'll just give them both 'better' tickets. I mean she'd even paying me I wasn't expecting that at first purely because I won them from a free competition so it felt wrong to ask for money off them. But I can live with about £60 more for that

Just feeling sorry for myself, it seems everything I do at the minute just seems to really piss off my family, they basically said I was a useless c*** to my face earlier, I'l live.
Aww Luke . That's hardly a constructive thing to say is it? my parents hav digs at me all the time but even they'd never say that to me, it's a hurtful thing to say.

How did this all kick off?

Speaking of contact lenses, I ran out of solution for my monthlies last night and they were my last set. I learned before from the experience of putting them in water then in your eyes the next morning a few years ago. Once and never again!

That is the one annoyance with the monthlies though; I don't like wearing my glasses when I'm out and if I end up staying over at some friends' house then I need to have a container on me as sleeping in them is also a once and never again thing.

It's interesting to know you don't find the dailies as good though Jav! I'm looking at trying them. I don't think they are more expensive Jason as my parents both changed over to them from the monthly scheme and they've saved money as far as I know.

Anyway, that's my 2p's worth; I'll shut up about contacts now.

In other news, my emotions are confusing me...
Emotions can be fun. Jav gave some good advice though .

People say things in the heat of the moment, I doubt they meant it dear.

Okay so I need to be up in like, 4 hours, and I've only just got home, this isn't good. I blame Javvy.

Pfffffft, what did I do now?!

And why are you getting up so early anyways? xD

Gosh, I've actually spent the past 6 hours attempting to do some assignment questions. Didn't even get many completed, why do they make it so hard. Week12 always sucks for deadlines!

I think that's a good point actually; to be fair I'd probably miss feeling like I do more than thinking that I'm going to grow old and alone into a crazy cat person or something which tends to be the opposite!

To be fair, I reckon you'd make a good crazy cat person. I wouldn't, I'm allergic you see.

I highly doubt you'll end up as a crazy cat person though.

Started on Python and Java (And object oriented principles in general) last year. This year we've moved onto C, Lisp and Prolog, which are all an absolute mindf**k!

I think the big demoralising thing is that there's loads of people who are really good at it as they've been doing programming since they were like 10 or whatever and it makes it even worse when you're struggling and they're whizzing ahead with everything.

I did consider transferring over to do French and European Studies but I did a lot better in the second semester and luckily passed my resits in the summer.
Yeah I was one of them

I really do wonder whether lecturers actually look at what languages and platforms employers are looking for?! C? Lisp? Prolog? No real business uses that stuff! And Python is for bedroom coders

The most in demand languages/platforms now are C# and .NET for any desktop/server side stuff (PHP is still fairly common in business but mostly for smaller or legacy systems) and JavaScript for web stuff (which will always be a big industry!). When you get into mobile stuff then Java for Android and Objective-C for iOS win out... but even in my place we do all our mobile stuff in JavaScript.

Teaching the principles of object oriented programming is great though... but it should be using C# really

I swear to god if I liked girls, I'd marry Perrie and we'd have beautiful babies.

I love them so much <3.

What's the point when I f**ked up my English NAB for the second time. (haven't got the results just yet but I only did 8 of the 14 questions)

I wouldn't mind getting a job (If I could find one!), of course it'd be nice to earn more but it's not the end of the world.

Haha you could always have mice and call them Mickey and Minnie Or stick with the dogs, you do have 101 names after all

Javvy random q I know but how long did it take you to get used to your daily contacts/monthly ones when you first got them? I kinda left my initial trial and teach stuff too close to going away and I don't know whether I've left it too late for me to get used to 'em before going

Ehhhhhhh, not long... My monthly's were fine, a bit dry at first, but my owns I got I could actually sleep in, but obviously they wanted me to get checked if I did. I don't see how anyone could though, they get pretty bad after 16 odd hours, when 14 was my longest I should wear them...

Dailies weren't really a total while either. They moved a bit at the start a lot as they were thinner. So vision kept 'readjusting' but my gosh they were comfy as fudge!

If you tell the opticians your going away and ask for a trial, they should give you enough to cover it and just let you go back in for y check up afterwards.

Where/when you going?

Phew! I went for the teach thingy today and they've given me the trial set but I have to go back on Sat after wearing them like 4hrs, then 6hrs, then 8hrs etc as this is my first ever time with contacts. The dailies I have felt rather weird and the whole time of wearing them I had an irritating sensation and the vision was no where near as good as my glasses I'm hoping that's just because it was my first ever time and it'll improve the more I wear them....

I'm hoping they'll have enough time to order in the stupid astigmatism ones after my checkup thingy this sat before I'm leaving home to head up to Newcastle. How long do they usually take to be delivered?

I'm going skiing in Austria over Christmas! Sooo excited for it and I also get to attend the Christmas Eve and Christmas gala evenings Unfortunately I fly back on NYE and won't be able to get back to Leeds or anywhere exciting for NY

How's things with you?

Orite. Yeah they are a bit weird at first, though I've had mine for about 3 years or so. Ps, get those small eye drops on hand, constantly. I swear just drip some in when they are a little dry or itchy, does wonders!

Astigmatism sucks! Mines only took a few days tbh to order. Maybe 2/3days.

Oh fancy I'm sure you've mentioned that a whole ago, I forgot

Well it's week 12, so exciting but deadlines aswell! Stats project and an assignment for Thursday/Friday. But the Saturdays tomorrow, exciting! So semi relaxing day then major typing for my report on Thursday.

How are you?
