Hi all,

I am currently on o2 and would like some advice on how it compares to tmob ?

Have any of you jumped ship from tmob to o2 ? or visa versa ? If so, how do you find the service's compared ? Better, worse or just the same ?

I need reliability: texts arriving on time, not delayed, calls not going straight to voicemail and good strong signal (2G and 3G)

Please advise which network you rate, thank you

I went from O2 to T-Mobile PAYG. I found T-Mobile much better for signal and more reliable. But at the same time I found O2 customer service a bit better. Depends really. For me its about signal and reliability which T-Mobile win on for me plus it was cheaper for my needs.

I think people from pretty much every network have the same problems. I've been on Orange, T-mobile and now Vodafone, and all three have exactly the same issues as you've described above.
People tend to change phone providers nowadays for things such as price/deals, customer service (or lack of) or simply for a change..

No more than the others.

It all depends on where you are. I Live and work in the Nott'm/Derby area and therefore the some signalls will be weaker/stronger than others. There's a village not far from me where my VF signal is lost completely, but the locals all get T-Mobile ok. Then in the opposite direction there's a place where the opposite is true.

Unless someone lives in the same place as you, and travels to the same places, then their experience of signal strength is pretty pointless as it's mostly situational.

I'm trying to jump ship from O2 (Tesco) to T-Mobile, but I'm still waiting for my unlocking code - its getting close to the promised 28 days now. I know for a fact that 3G coverage on T-Mobile is better here because O2 don't have any for 10 miles in any direction. 2G data couldn't be any worse either as O2 doesn't work here. Ho Hum, just have to keep waiting.

Is it your PAC code you are waiting for ?

Lemme know how you get on with Tmobile... I am in the same boat with O2... Hardly any u2100 coverage however with the new u900 being rolled out I am wondering if I will see any benefit to that soon ?

Cheers

No, I don't want to take my number with me, I just need to unlock the phone so a T-Mobile SIM will work.

T Mobile is a no for me where I live, O2 is the strongest signal our of all the providers BUT thats in my area, it may well be totally different where you live. Have you friends using TM?

I'm being thwarted in my attempts to move from O2 (Tesco) to T-Mobile. Tesco said they'd send me an unlocking code within 28 days but they didn't (and worse, they didn't contact me to explain themselves or apologise either). I phoned them to find out what they were up to, and they explained that the operation had been moved to a new team but none of the customer details had been passed across, so every request for an unlocking code had just been dumped. Great customer service, huh? I had to make a new request for an unlocking code, which they said would only take a day or two, but it hasn't come yet. I won't be beating a path back to Tesco Mobile any time soon.

I went from T-Mobile to O2 two years ago. Customer Service with O2 is much better, and their data network seems more stable where I live and work. I'm sure my bills were less with T-Mobile though.

T-Mobile were dreadful for signal and trying to get out of the contract was a nightmare...
the only thing i liked was the update text service letting me know what airtime i had left......

Now, they're sharing with Orange (whom I moved to before their merger) and the signal and call quality is now lousy.

Depends where you are in the country, but 02s 3g signal is nowhere as good as t mobile/Orange as a lot of people have said on here.

I'll be switching to T-Mobile PAYG just for the £10 unlimited texts and 6 months internet.

Thanks for the advice. My unlocking code finally arrived from Tesco and it didn't work, so it looks like changing network isn't going to be an option anyway.

You should not have been given such poor service, _ben. I'd suggest getting back to them, make another request this time and tell them that you are recording all dates and details in case you need to take the case to regulator Ofcom and consumer programme You & Yours (saying something like that tends to get some positive action ).

lt might be worth emailing them or wrting to to them this time round in view of their bungling so that there is a formal record. Good luck!
