Is the picture quality of Sky Sports 1 & 2 delivered through an aerial (BT Vision, Top Up TV) comparable to other standard definition channels?

The reason I'm asking, is that I'm considering moving from satellite, due to another box failure, but the picture on Sky Sports 1 & 2 standard definition channels via satellite appears inferior to BBC1 etc!

Some people on the Satellite forums claimed that the bandwidth of Sky Sports SD (on Sky) was turned down a few months after the HD varients were introduced. This was heavily debated.

I've never seen SS via Vision, but the picture quality of ESPN SD via DTT, Vision or TuTV is certainly far worse than that on Virgin or Sky. So that might be a guideline...

I agree with the ESPN picture not very good at times. Sky Sports 1 & 2 are excellent. I suppose it could depend on your DTT transmitter - mine is Winter Hill (North West England).

It's not a guideline. SS on DTT is fine - I know plenty of people who have it and they dont have any issues.

ESPN is generally known to be poor on DTT - not sure if DSO fixed this or not.

Sky Sports on Vision is good.
I have it and watch it frequently. Picture quality is much better than ESPN.

ESPN - still not great after Digital Switchover.

None the less - for what Vision costs I am still happy enough with ESPN and over the moon with Sky Sports 1 and 2.

Just need Sport 3 and 4 to come along!!!

DSO didn't fix it. I went through DSO during my time with Vision.

But I appologise for using the word 'guideline' and agree it's not.

It's reasuring to know that you know so many people who have it, and are satisfied with it. I don't know anyone who does personally, so I defer to your superior knowledge.

There. You couldn't start a fight again, could you?

Sky sports on vision is excellent quality. Setanta used to be awful but now ESPN post switchover is perfectly fine.
