Travis return
Travis are set to release a new single, Walking In The Sun, plus a greatest hits album and accompanying DVD in October/November this year.
It's interesting as with the new single they seem to be taking a step backwards to the sound of their old material, rather than continuing with the darker tones of last album 12 Memories. There's a full stream of Walking In The Sun on the official site: http://www.travisonline.com/ |

I'm still suprised that 12 Memories did so badly - I really like every track on it.
The new track sounds a bit like REM - Man On The Moon.. |

The new track sounds a bit like REM - Man On The Moon.. My favourite song apart from the singles off it is the hidden track, Some Sad Song. How daft is that? It should have not remained hidden. IMHO. |

No, it's on a new greatist hits/singles collection: Quote:
Dear all
We’re pleased to exclusively announce the release of Travis: Singles, a collection of all their singles to date, plus a new DVD, both set for release on November 1st. The album features a brand new track, "Walking In The Sun", produced and mixed by long time collaborators Mike Hedges and Nigel Godrich. This will be released as a single in advance of the album on October 18th. More details soon. The DVD features all the band’s videos to date, plus previously unseen documentary footage, including; the final recording stages of the debut album Good Feeling; Dougie impersonating Richard Ashcroft; some impressive fretwork from Andy and an amusing guided tour of Abbey Road Studio 2 from Messrs Healy and Payne The DVD also features several "the making of’s" and key live performances from the bands past, these are "All I Want To Do Is Rock" performed on Later With Jools, "Why Does It Always Rain On Me?" from their headline Glastonbury show in 2000, "The Beautiful Occupation" from the 2003 MTV Europe Music Awards and " Baby One More Time" from VH1’s Storytellers. Travis are currently back in the studio working on their fifth album, the follow up to 12 Memories, due for release next year. The full track listing for the album is as follows: Sing; Driftwood; Writing To Reach You; Why Does It Always Rain On Me?; Re-Offender; Walking In The Sun; Tied To The 90’s; Coming Around; Flowers In The Window; Love Will Come Through; More Than Us; Side; U16 Girls; Happy; All I Want To Do Is Rock; The Beautiful Occupation; Turn. Thanks Travis Web Team |

It's a shame 12 Memories didn't do as well as previous efforts (although it has gone platinum nontheless). It just goes to show that when a band is brave and tries something new the public shoots it down.
A Greatest Hits album is likely to revive interest though. |

A Greatest Hits album is likely to revive interest though. As for 12 Memories, most big bands' albums go platinum anyway. |

'12 Memories' is a great album. Similarly, Starsailor's 'Silence is Easy' was a great follow up to 'Love is Here'. I get the impression that this type of adult-oriented pop might have had it's day in the charts for now. It'll be interesting to see how the next Coldplay, Keane and Snow Patrol albums fair. Far too early to say really.

I've really come around to this new track - I LOVE it!
I saw them live last week, it was brilliant.
