I want to breed Harry and Pamela.
madlh100
01-09-2011
I want a daughter and son for Harry and Pamela.

Pam is in breeding condition as her nose has gone brown. Not sure about Harry.

I'm thinking of sticking a breeding box in their cage and hope they have sex.

Anyone with experience of breeding?

Not sure how beneficial the dummy eggs are, but I might get some.

Just want to say that all the people who said they'd be down the bog, I'd loose interest and dead are wrong. Don't all rush to apologize.

I thought you were getting your Mum a pig? The I thought you were getting chickens?

I must have missed the Budgie thread?

How long have you had them?

They are lovely btw!

From your photos I'm not convinced that Pamela - the all white one I presume - is female .
The colour differentiation of blue for male and brown for female is not as distinct in pure self coloured budgies.
If Pamela's cere is all brown now(like milk chocolate colour) and not just browny round the nostrils then you are probably right .
However in your photo it looks slightly blue tinged to me .
Even if you have a male/female pair I am not sure if they will breed in a cage setting with a nest box.

We bred budgies for a while, they needed a good size aviary and all the things to build a nest etc before they would even consider sitting on an egg.

Once hatched they are were fairly good parents but actually sitting long wnough to hatch was a problem as so many things would put them off.

Try http://www.budgerigars.co.uk/forum/forum.php lots of experts in budgies on there that can help you and if you post a pic they will let you know for sure whether Pamela is indeed a female.

I am so pleased they are budgies, I was worried they may be the next door neighbours.

I'm already registered on there darling.

There has been a bit of debate as to whether Pamela is female or not, but an expert on there assures me she is.

Yeah I really want a pig and a chicken, some rabbits too.

Too much hassle though.

It's more brown around the nostrils.

The breeder I got them off about 5-6 months a gave me one female and one male.

Good good! Tis the best forum around for budgies
And I'm sure if an expert, no doubt it was Barrie, who said she was female then she probably is as Barrie really knows his stuff!

I've been registered there for a while, not posted much though as I don't have any budgies at the moment
