I sometimes listen to an album which has a great theme and concept and then one or more tracks come on and they just don't suit the style of the album. Although these tracks may be great in their own right, they just don't match the style of the whole album.

Some examples of these tracks are;

Rihanna - Rated R Rude Boy & Te Amo
Although Rude Boy is a great track it would have been much better suited on her follow up record Loud. It's a loud sexy song with a bright and colorful video while Rated R was a dark and moody artistic album. Te Amo was quite the same, it was a love song with a very 'summery' beat and is about a woman's love for Rihanna. The rest of the tracks were about heartbreak, revenge and violence. I definitely don't think it belonged on Rated R.

Rihanna - Loud: Love The Way You Lie Part II
This would have been much better suited on her previous album Rated R.

Beyonce - 4: Run The World
What was she thinking? 4 is a beautiful, mature, well written record consisting mainly of slow-mid tempo deep tracks. Run The World just doesn't fit on 4 and I don't know why it was the lead single. It certainly didn't represent 4 at all.

Britney Spears - Circus: Radar
I know it was on Blackout so why she chose to include it on her follow up record too I'll never know. I think this is the only time I've known an artist to do this. It fit perfectly on Blackout but was so out of place on Circus.

What songs do you think didn't belong on their albums?

`two for the price of one` from the visitors album by abba! an awfully cheesy throw back to their novelty beginnings. completely out of place on that album.

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream: Pearl
I like the song but it just doesn't seem to go.

Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster: Teeth
Teeth should never have even been thought of. NEVER. Teeth is practically a crime to music. People often say Gaga peaked with TFM but it makes me question whether they've heard this abomination.

I have to agree with you on Teeth. Your post made me laugh I loved the beat of Teeth and thought it was a great track until I listened to the lyrics. What a load of tripe. It actually puts me in a bad mood when I hear it. So much so that I replaced it with 'I Like it Rough' on The Fame Monster in my iTunes.

Rihanna - Loud: Skin Yes it's a very sensual and sexy song but it's dark and almost moody vibes feel more suited to Rated R, it could cover the dark sexual theme if it was ever need for Rated R better than the up-tempo sassy Rude Boy. These tracks should've been switched over. I love them both but they don't really fit on the albums their on.

I already have 'I Like it Rough' in my The Fame. *snobbish face*

And besides, Teeth isn't even worth the energy it takes to replace it.

There are lovely intricate harmonies on the choruses, though and, to be honest, it was the only time I have ever thought Bjorn sounded good on a lead vocal. But you're right...WHAT was this doing on the album, especially when you consider they "left off" the recorded Should I Laugh Or Cry which is far more in keeping with the feel of The Visitors album?

Should I Laugh Or Cry should have not have been the b-side to One Of Us, it should have been Two For The Price Of One which should NOT have gone onto The Visitors at all.

Three other tracks were also recorded for The Visitors but never went beyond demo stages, and these are also much better suited to The Visitors, being "Giving A Little Bit More", and what was to become "Anthem" in CHESS and "I Am The Seeker" from ABBAcadabra.

Of course, in the last fourteen years Should I Laugh Or Cry and the final ABBA singles The Day Before You Came and Under Attack have also been added to the album, and these fit in well too. On subsequent re-issues it's pot luck whether you'll find You Owe Me One or Cassandra (their respective b-sides) on The Visitors album. It all depends what mood Benny is in at the time as he constantly meddles with the track lists.

But you're right, Bjorn and Benny should have ditched Two For The Price Of One the moment they recorded the demo. It was NOT the direction ABBA were going in 1981, and this track just sticks out like a horrid teenage pimple on an otherwise very adult sounding LP.

I disagree.I cannot imagine 'Rude Boy' on Loud.'Loud' has a complete another feel and vibe. And I think that 'Skin' fits 'Loud' very well. The whole dark vibe of the song is complimented by other songs, such as MD, 'Complicated' and in some extent 'Fading' too.

I've always thought The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight seems strange on R.E.M.'s Automatic For The People because it's far more upbeat that the rest.

Peacock ruins the element of Teenage dream album. It's a fun cheeky song but the album in general is a fun harmless Pop album that even parents can't feel shameless in buying for their kids. Peacock ruins that element in the album by making it rude of course.

Run the world is very out of place on 4. The album is very 90's contemorary R&b and then bam, at the end you have this monster dance track.

Skin is out of place of Loud. It belongs on Rated r i believe. It's a dark track and of course Rated r was a dark album.

Oh to answer the question regarding Britney's radar, they had to release Radar because they signed a contract with the producer that they would . Of course if they didn't, it would be breaking a contract which is never good.

`you owe me one` was just as bad, in terms of what should have been on that album. of course, it came later though. i do agree `should i laugh or cry` was criminally overlooked. in favour of `two for the price of one`.

I agree about Run The World (Girls) on '4' by Beyonce

The album flows nicely and melodically with easy beats, pleasant lyrics, emotion etc

then the final track is something totally opposite =/
Perhaps if it was the first track on the album not the last and 1+1 was the closing song it maybe would have worked?

Experienced by Steps, simultaneously the most uncomfortable and out of place track I have ever heard. Because nothing fits better on a bubblegum pop record than H singing of making love to an older woman.

Kelly Rowland - Commander & Down For Whatever, don't get me wrong, love the tracks, but the album was very R&B and then the last two songs are dance.

But I defo agree with 'Run The World' though it does give a nice difference.

I have always thought the Jungle Line from Joni's Hissing of the Summer Lawns spoils a perfect album.

Gabriella Cilmi - Ten: Let Me Know. I don't think it seemed to flow with the album very well, I would even go as far to call it a 'filler'.

"Kiss With A Fist" is really out of place on Lungs by Florence in my opinion... The rest of the album has this other worldly ethereal quality and then there's this little punk rock Karen O style number stuck in the middle... Messes up the continuity!

'My World' on Guns N' Roses Use Your Illusion II. YouTube it and tell me it sounds anything like a GNR song - it's just Axl Rose rapping over synthesized beats about nothing at all.

Radar had to be on Circus because for Britney to get the song originally, the producers of it said that it had to be released as a single. It was planned to be the 4th single from Blackout but after she got sectioned it was cancelled, so to avoid being sued the label tacked it on to CIrcus and released it from that album instead.

I love the track but it was a bit off overkill!

I don't think either of Katy B's singles fit in with the rest of `On A Mission'

what do you mean? `lights on` is maybe a little bit different. however, the rest of the singles are in keeping with the album`s direction.

Too many to name. Compilations are the worst culprits.

Girls Aloud - We Wanna Party (from Out Of Control)

For anyone who doesn't know, its a cover of a Xenomania-produced Lene (from Aqua) song from her 2003 album. Its a pretty rubbish song and the production sounds so dated compared to the rest of the album. It basically just sounds like a b-side from the Sound Of The Underground era, and its a really strange choice of album track considering they had She, Its Your Dynamite and Memory Of You at their disposal

Lighters from Bad Meets Evil's album. It's not a bad song though, but I don't know how to explain it, like the album is kind of "hard", I suppose, whilst Lighters is a bit soppy in comparison.
