Hi, apologies if this has cropped up before but I cannot find any answers, I have just bought a Freesat + to use at home but we also go caravanning so can anyone tell me what size dish would be best to use whilst caravanning and what is the best gadget to use to line the dish up with the sattelite, many thanks in anticipation, Robin.

You will find the answer to every question (and some you never thought of ) here. The answer depends on where you are going on holiday.

Happy caravanning, used to be one before the kids grew up and became a grandfather. Your thanks really belong to the site creator.

Hi

If it helps we caravan in France every summer. We use an old amstrad skybox (cheap - cost £5) and freesat card - same satellite as freesat - and an 80cm dish with a single lnb mounted on a pa system loudspeaker tripod. Peg the legs down to stop it moving.

Never had a problem picking up Astra 28 - even watched the last olympics at Narbonne in the south of France. French campsites are full of dishes on tripods or poles clamped to the van's A frame.

Bought a sat finder ages ago and put it in the bin - now I just use the sky signal strength screen, point the lnb 28 E fiddled around until the signal strength and quality are as good as I can get and Bob's your uncle! A good compass helps.

At home in Brittany - same set up but with a 60cm skydish - again good reception.
