Did anyone else feel awful for Sharon when a couple of the auditionees who were didn't get past round 1 resorted to commenting very rudely on her family? As brief as they were, I felt extremely uncomfortable at these points of the show and this was only the first episode...

She asked one guy who was mighty p*ssed off when he didn't make it through if he 'wanted to be black' (admittedly a rather stupid and irrelevant question, I thought). Nevertheless, he replied with a pointed 'Do I want to be black? Do your kids want to get out of rehab?' at which point it all went downhill, she got angry and he got laughed out of the studios, all the while giving the finger to the cameras. Lovely chap

And another auditionee, when told by Sharon that she wasn't special & didn't have talent, shot back 'What, and Ozzy does?' (sorry if either of these descriptions are inaccurate in any way, I watched it really late at night and can't remember it 100% but you get the gist).

Unfortunately, I have a feeling we are going to see these kinds of comments quite often...I guess 'The Osbourne Show' has somehow given people free licence to make such stupid and horrible comments about Sharon's life and family - she is a wife and mother after all. Okay, so yes she is an extremely rich one who chose to give Joe Public an insight into her family life, but ultimately she is flesh and blood as we all are so surely a line has to be drawn somewhere?

I felt really bad for her...but then again, I am sure she can defend herself, and am pretty sure she will be giving back as good as she gets!

I think she might have anticipated that she'd perhaps get the odd comment when she started the show I'm sure it'll be water off a ducks back though when the wannabee's return to McDonalds and she puts her feet up at night in her multi million Ł mansion

I liked Sharon yesterday. But, on this occasion, given her remarks she is equally to blame for that incident.

I don't think she was. Sharon has always stated that certain people don't suit certain styles of music.

It's not a race thing, it's simply a fact. She was making a point that the scrawny, ginger bloke should not be attempting songs in a Rap/HipHop genre. Of course there are exceptions to the rule (Eminem for example) - But this guy truly was talentless and I'd be mighty pissed if I were a R'n'B artist and saw this sorry excuse trying to muscle in on a market that has taken years to build.

OK, maybe her specific words might have been wrong; perhaps she could have worded it better.

I think in total she can give as good as she gets, to be the succesful manager she is it takes a cast iron side. All has not been simple in the house of osbourne, so I imagine she can roll with punches. Apart from that she rocked last night. In some cases she made Cowell look like a pussy cat. I would like to see her do American Idol too.

Sharon was fantastic , i absolutely love her in this show. She is funny, honest and compassionate, and makes for a great judge. I thought it wasn't right that some people made comments on her family like that, and i was half expecting her to leap over the table at that woman with the violin who said that about Ozzy. If looks could kill! I think that ginger haired guy was lucky he escaped with his limbs intact too.

They were two of the most irritating people i have ever seen. They must realise what idiots they made of themselves, hope they died of embarrassment if they watched the show on Saturday.

Sharon Osbourne is on ITV's This Morning now, she is hysterical. She's already managed to swear twice and call Simon Cowell an arsehole! Phil and Fern look mortified

I thought that was such a lame shot from that girl. Might not be your cup of tea but Ozzy has a unique and powerful voice and a very successful career. Thought she made herself look stupid with that shot. Would have been better off picking on the daughter, at least sheŽd have a point

She trots her husband out for gigs and appearances like a senile demented old man playing a parody of himself. Ozzys career finished in 1986, everything after that is just a joke.

I'm sure it's not the first time Sharon's had to put up with comments about her family & it won't be the last, mentally she's tough enough to handle it........she knows it's bound to happen.

I think having her on the panel will prove to be a good move, compared to Nicky Chapman, who constantly sat on the fence with practically all the 'Pop Idols'.

Agreed. Sharon is the one who put her family into the public domain, and has done very nicely out of it, thank you. The Osbourne Show is the reason she is on X Factor, so she shouldn't mind people bringing it up. She is attracting a few negative comments back because she is dishing quite a bit out - which she has to expect, and like many others here, I'm convinced she is hard-as-nails and able to "cope" with it perfectly easily. In fact, she probably welcomes it as it gives her the opportunity to establish a bit of "kindly-but-sassy Mum" cred with us and get a bit of sympathy.

I noticed that she only addressed the "scrawny" guy to his face when she had Big Tony there for protection, and she saved most of her vitriol (including the classic pub coward "if he'd have said one more thing, I'd have had him...") for after the youngster had left. I'm hoping the standard of her witty ripostes will improve over the series, as her remarks about ginger pubes were frankly not particularly clever or funny.

(oh, and don't get me started on the shot after she came out from turning down the final candidate, where she seemed to be laughing then saw the camera, and started snivelling like a two-year-old - it's all part of the media-manipulation game to our Shaz)

She loves it really, else why even have her show? Trust me, don't feel sorry for her, deep down shes loving it and thinking what a horrible little s**t the person is. She is very tough.

Well Sharon has a fairly talentless daughter, Kelly, who managed to launch a singing career because she was on reality tv, and wouldn't have got anywhere otherwise.

So when she starts describing other people as talentless, she's kinda chucking stones from a glass house.

Yep I totally agree with the Kelly "Talentless" thing...now Ozzy? there is a man who has paid ALL and ANY dues reqd. for Rock'n'Roll longevity....to quote Bacall a LEGEND!!
Unlike his dopey daughter who thinks an appearance on TOTP is work and constitutes a "Tour"he went on 300 date tours of the the WHOLE USA with Black Sabbeth, away for months and months on the tour bus.
It does make me laugh when I remember Kelly's little hissy fit (last season's Osbourne's RTV)cause she was tired after 7 days of promo (aww bless, poor kelly )
They don't make 'em crazy-tough like Ozzy anymore some would say that's a good thing....not me though.....

Kizzie

I happened to flick over to ITV on friday night just gone and was very surprised to see a (non-adverised) repeat of the first X-factor episode... this was at about 11.30pm-ish so I wonder if this will be a weekly repeat on friday nights? It's worth keeping an eye out this friday though, just in case

Hello there, my old pal, PIV. I agree so much.

Ozzy is a god in rock history (now I sound like Jack Black).

As for Shazza. I love her. She's fab and funny as hell. Roll on more and more Sharon.

Yeah, yeah...young Jack and Kelly have their tantrums and their problems. They haven't had a very 'ordinary' life; just 'cause they've got tons of money...well, it's maybe not always easy. I'll leave judging other parents' on teenagers until I get my own through that phase!

Rock on Shaz and Ozzy

Do you mean his credibility (in your eyes) finished in 1986? His career seems to be going strong- look at Ozzfest...........

End of the day Sharon, Simon (and though I hate to admit it Louis) all have made incredibly successful careers (in no way jealous ) from doing zillions of these type of auditions/making these kind of decisions. So if we're gonna judge them best do it by the voting, eh?

To get back on topic Sharon and the entire Osbourne clan unfortunately left themselves open to all kinds of abuse and ridicule as soon as they signed on the dotted line with MTV. That is not to say that such abuse is justified, only that we can't sympathise too much.

To wander off topic again, Ozzy is a legend who, whilst I don't particularly like his music, will be remembered as the legend he has become. Yes, his career in terms of popular music (not POP music) hasn't been as infamous as in the past, but this is a man who continues to sell out arenas with Ozzfest and achieved a number 1 last Christmas, with a song which IMO completely deserved the acolade.

This brings me on to Kelly, of whom I think it is unfair to describe as talentless. Her music career hasn't been great, mainly due to a lack of quality writing, but I was pleased to see that the reworking of 'Changes' was down to her and I find myself listening to her cover of 'Papa Don't Preach' more than the original! Also, it is well worth to note that her acting performance in the US show 'Life As We Know It' has been a hit with the critics, with Variety saying she has 'brought tenderness to a character that otherwise have descended into stereotype... She shows more potential as an actress than she did as a singer.'

It iritates me when people make wide, unfounded statements (or insults in this case) so try to get your facts straight.
