That was a brilliant episode tonight.

The so-called joy of mobile communications for all (or not) were demonstrated excellently in this.

Karen's 23-point complaint was handled superbly by the head, and her offer to make tea for everyone at home was great!

I'm sure that this series has been much more scripted than the earlier series', but it's just as good and wonderfully enjoyable.

Do hope we'll see more at some point.

LOL PETE HAS MY PHONE. Can't hear a bloody thing, I just text everyone.

Loved the IT guy at the end having to hold 2 phones up for the Skype session and then bring them to face each other so the 2 guys could communicate!

Agree there's definitely lots left in this. I actually think the 1-off episodes have tended to be weaker than the series.

Thought that was Karen's best episode of the series.

I liked the 'less illegal' line and lots of other bits. Great episode!

Best episode of the series by a long way. By breaking with the usual format it shows that there is still life left in this.

It certainly illustrated the sheer hell caused by escalating mobile phone dependency.

I thought that I wasn't going to like the new series, with the children growing up, but Ben in particular is still very funny. Even Jake amuses me now when I wasn't bothered about him before.

I was a bit dubious when it was announced that Outnumbered was going to come back for a 5th series, because I thought the first 4 series were brilliant and that it had come to a natural place to stop. I thought it might be a bit awkward with the children older.

But this series has been equally brilliant! And this week was very good. S5 E5 and S5 E3 will go down in history as excellent classic episodes alongside my favourite which is S3 E6.

Tyger and Dan have evolved to become even better actors than they were already; I sort-of agree that Ramona is a bit less impressive than in previous series. I suspect it's a flaw in the scripts rather than in Ramona's own ability.

Myself, my hubby and our 13 year old son are all loving this series, I really don't want it to be the last one. I want to see how Ben handles having a girlfriend, I want to see if Karen ever gets less self centred and makes friends. My Family dealt with kids growing up and having their own kids, although the quality did deteriorate over the last few series, so maybe Outnumbered should go out 'on top'. But I hope this series is not the last we see of them.

Good episode last night - loved Rebecca Front as the head teacher.
"And that rebellious girl, did she go on to become a headteacher?"
"No - she was expelled and ended up in prison. She found out the rules did apply to her after all"

I think that what worked so well last night was the fact that all 5 family members had their own story line and each ran independent of the others but all were interactive - does that make sense ?

Just went to prove that they work just as well with other actors as with each other.

Genuinely loved it and will re-watch again at the weekend.

A brilliant episode. Karen really came into her own last night and it was great to see Ramona Marquez back on form. It was a brilliant way to round off the Karen story - 'you're done with being cute and precocious, now you have to wake up and smell the coffee'. Kind of reflected what was being said on here.

Yes loved that bit especially the cameo from 'Mr Burns'

I did think it was very odd and rather jarring to see Sue at her workplace for the first time in 4 and a half series.

I really enjoyed this episode, the Head was brilliant. I wish they would do a spin-off for Jake, it could air on BBC Three with cameos from the Outnumbered cast. Tyger has really come into his own this series.

I loved Rebecca Front's line about Roald Dahl causing more harm to children than polio and the other one about Primary School giving gold stars for "...well, breathing". Spot on. The jump for some kids up to High School is a cavernous gulf and it's good this series has addressed that with Karen's inability to cope with the transition.

Loved this episode and so typical of the stresses of family life and teenage anxieties.
I thought Id be happy to see the series finish...but now I just want more!
That IT guy with the two phones talking to each other was hilarious...and then dad stamping on his at the end!

I know the kids are older and scripted more than they used to be...but it still feels very natural compared to most shows about kids and family life....like its still built around what they would say and do naturally...so now they understate in sulky silence and withering looks, or they get stressed out and worry about themselves, self absorbed.

Its still funny but more subtle...so the show has grown up with them.

PLEASE give us more.

I have had another thought: Pete got home to discover that Karen had arrived home safely, but also that she had "let the plumber in". If this had been series 3, a 7-year-old Karen would have stood at the door interrogating the plumber for half an hour to check out his credentials and qualifications, and to make sure he was a proper plumber rather than a con-man or burglar, before letting him in. Either Karen already knew Dave the plumber, or they missed an opportunity for the plumber to have difficulty getting in.

Or Karen is four years older and no longer follows the same behaviour. Have you not read the countless pages complaining that Karen hasn't grown up in the way that posters expected/demanded?

But the joke was that Pete had been going spare all afternoon trying to get the pump and someone back to the house to let in Karen, when Karen had her key all along and let in the plumber who had a spare pump after all.
