I don't log on to read her on a Saturday, I do the crossword in the afternoon.
Including the week they had Evelyn Waugh as a female writer. ( I know there was a a Mrs EW but she didn't write scoop!) |

^No no - I wasn't referring to you, Vampyre - I know that you get to see Eire print edition on Saturday.
My post was intended as a self-deprecating gag

Lizard will be having delusions about being Margot in All About Eve.
God what am I saying? Lizard hasn't the taste or class to have heard of let alone watched said movie. |

Bet she was ready for her close up when she was doing her post face lift photo shoot. Probably about 97 for her to drool over her own gorgeousness.

I couldn't see the live link either--I found the latest Dreary column only by searching "Liz Jones" on the Mail site, opening an earlier column, selecting her name under the title, and then later ticking the circle asking to see the most recent column first. Then it appeared, with six hostile comments underneath.
I'm wondering if the column will simply disappear entirely--and if so, why. Has Liz finally read the comments of the last several weeks, and is she in the DM newsroom shrieking "KILL MY COLUMN!!" and dancing around in rage? I added a comment of my own asking why--if the RS existed--she imagines she has something to offer HIM? It's a weird fantasy, the rock star--she seems to get off on a situation in which she has maximum control over a relationship because the other person is so (incomprehensibly) smitten. It's not a fantasy about being loved; it's a fantasy about being NOT being unattractive and unlikable, and instead being able to be persnickety and choosy while a rich, powerful, mythical man professes complete acceptable of the stupid shrew. If that's her idea of the ideal relationship . . . well, it's pathetic, this fantasy. Nothing to do with how men and women (or couples in general) relate to each other. |

"I am ambivalent towards Ms Smith - but some of you are being downright nasty - there is no need to bully anyone ! Isn't it called trolling when people hide behind the facelessness of the Internet to bully and abuse other people ? - London always , London, 18/9/2011 8:15" Ambivalent to the point of not getting the name right. Terrific. (And where, pray tell, is the bullying and abuse?) |

No you silly woman, you wouldn't - if the FRS actually does exist (and if he has a similar attitude to most blokes) then when he's feeling in need of some *grown up* time, he wouldn't even notice if you had legs like this http://ikaruga.co.uk/~snacky/leg2.jpgQuote:

If he does move in, maybe someone will finally see him in the flesh!!! Surely one...just one person might be able to confirm his existance.......
- Disbeliever, Liz's Lala land, 17/9/2011 23:04 If the RS was real and not a figment of her imagination I would have to ask her - does love come into your decision at all? She doesn't ever mention it. - Blodwen, Wales, 17/9/2011 22:52 A couple of good points. As for the pet passport issue, Liz should do a bit of research - photos are not obligatory, although she would had to have her animals chipped and vaccinated against rabies. Where does she go for passport photos now Woolworth's has closed? "Please can someone tell LJ that "Fatal Attraction" is NOT an instruction manual " WelshMum64, you made me laugh with that one! She must be heading for the great break-up scene soon. |

I think it's clear what is going on - the MOS will not print any serious criticism of Liz and this week she seems to have rallied her cronies to make comments of 'bullying'. I posted the following comment which has not been printed:
**Isn't it about time the Mail On Sunday printed a disclaimer each week on Liz Jones Diary (and many of her other articles) stating that she writes fantasy and fiction? Whilst The Diary may have been based on fact during the time she was married, it's been a pack of lies since at least March 2010. The RS story is fantasy. The articles where she was claiming to be on the verge of bankruptcy and unable to feed her animals were a disgrace - people were sending her money and food parcels! She can't even keep up the same story from one week to the next- last week she said she'd taken her house off the market, yet it has never been removed from the estate agent's website for the last 18 months** |

Liz Jones is a truly dreadful journalist. Since she is regarded as a bit of a joke in the fashion world (and banned from most of the catwalk shows), she presumably earns her salary from her 'confessional journalism' - which is NOT confessional journalism as it appears to have been mostly fictitious for the past 18 months.
Time for the Mail to give the job to someone else - someone who has a real life & relationships to write about. |

1. Type "YOU magazine" into google. 2. Latest edition comes up with link to Liz's byline photo on the right hand side and her latest diary column. But then I am never logging on at midnight or 3 am ..... but a much more leisurely 3 pm or 4 pm on Sunday afternoon! ![]() . |

Well, most days there is nothing new to comment on so on the Sunday and whichever day 'The Moans' appears, I would read whatever replaces them (and comment or not). So I reckon I'd have about 10 minutes a week spare if Liz disappeared. What would I do with it? Eat more chocolate possibly.

Somehow I'd struggle on if there was no Liz Jones appearing on my screen every Saturday and Wednesday here in LA.
I was apparently in a fairly vicious mood yesterday and have red arrows sticking out of me at every angle. Sometimes I'm faintly ashamed when I write nasty, vicious comments--but not this time. I'm rather fond of men, in general, and the idea that a man would find Liz Jones attractive and want to move in with her is simply too much to believe--it outrages me that anyone would believe that, and especially that a rock star would want to live with this prima donna talent-free egotist. She snagged her husband because she was NOT so looney back then and because he could live off of her, I assume; perhaps her personality has altered for the worse and she was somewhat--if only somewhat--pleasanter. But if the Liz Jones we see in the Mail and the Liz Jones whom other journalists comment on are at all the same as the real-life Liz Jones, then who on EARTH would want to spend an afternoon with her, much less move in? I wonder what she'd do if they ever did end her contract? Not that they will when she gets so many hits. What does Rebecca Brooks do with herself now that her career is effectively done with? They remind me of one another to a degree, though Brooks had real power and Liz, well . . . Liz can't even persuade people to like the clothes she approves of. |

Are some of the Harpies / Coven members taking the piss on the Comments bit of today's You article in wishing LJ all the best and telling her she deserves happiness etc?

Well, I haven't been telling Liz she deserves happiness. Sure, I believe she does deserve happiness, like everyone else--but happiness that removes her from writing her columns, publicizing herself, emailing people, writing letters to people, being able to touch a telephone . . . actually, granted that she seems incapable of being nice to people, happiness that removed her from the human population would be best. Perhaps she could take over the important "scientific" and "protective" work of Timothy Treadwell, who lived in Alaska and believed Kodiak bears were his friends till one of them ate him? (I'm kidding, I'm kidding . . . )
Liz will go through periods when every comment is positive and along the lines of "You deserve happiness!", and then there are periods when several to all of the comments are hostile (or from someone from Liverpool who says he wants to hold her hand, etc.) In the wake of the unanimous and hysterical comments from rock stars in the previous weeks it's hard to believe that suddenly the people who just wuv Liz and labour under the belief that she is a journalist and a deserving person all wake up to say "Hey now! You stop being mean to poor Lizzie!" The trends in the comments simply don't make sense; the DM's editing them so that sometimes they're wildly positive, sometimes wildly negative--but why? To keep people reading the comments? |
