I have long been impressed by your Daily Mail comments. i salute you.

I too remember vaguely something about her wanting to be a model, just cannot remember why she was rejected.

Well as far as DM and MOS editor is concerned our comments about her journalistic abilities and quality of pieces have fallen on deaf ears and had the opposite effect of what we want to achieve. New piece on Liz Taylor's jewellery today (have not read it) as boycotting reading anything by her or posting any comments as really believe that will make my point more effectively...no interest might = no job with DM. I've noticed on the online website there have been a number of articles in the past few weeks about fashion/celebs and no journalist named just says "Daily Mail Reporter" .. might be LJ due to comments of how many pieces she gets printed.

Maybe it was because she had these apparently huge breasts?

And what thoughts do people have on how Liz is going to rebound from all the comments from aging rock stars? Just carry on as usual? I'm dusting off my Monkees albums for inspiration.
I think we have ourselves a new Harpy Anthem....Daydream Believer! The title sums up LJ perfectly!

Welcome CC, great first post. And a warm welcome to the other new arrivals in Crazed Harpy World too.

I notice that LJ's piece on the Liz Taylor diamonds contains not one single reference to Me, Me, Me. Is this a first? Is it because LJ doesn't have any jewels of her own to compare? Or is she under orders to merely produce a report that isn't about her? Is she?

But, oh dear, the M&S piece. I haven't seen the ads myself (wrong country, no access to television), but are the clothes all that bad? I'd actually be quite happy if I could find a nice handbag or pair of shoes that didn't cost a fortune. But then I'm not a fashion snob.

Granted they're far and few between... but the pix I've seen of Jones pre-hacking don't show her with massive hooters "hanging down to my waist". More to the point, very few anorexics have a massive rack.

Another tick in the "lies" column. Yeah, I know she said that the steroids they forced into her in hospital made them grow: b*ll*cks. Steroids aren't that specific: everything bulks up, not just your norks.

I'm having trouble believing that she actually wrote that, for the reasons stated above.

Yes, I was surprised too, when I saw who was writing the article I took a deep breath and braced myself for how quickly she would turn the article onto herself, because surely she and the RS are the Taylor and Burton of our generation, with their fame, break ups, reunions and lavish lifestyles.

On the subject of RS being Robert (Percy) Plant; What I find totally unbelievable is, firstly that he would even consider being associated with this woman, but did I read that she had a posters of him on her wall in the 80's? that does not ring true really..Led Zep split up in 1980 after the death of John Bonham and during the 80's Robet Plant had a stuttering and fairly low profile solo career. Also, yes he was a 'rock god' but i can't remember there being a range of posters around in the 80's. She would have been nearly 30 years old as well, surely not an age to have popstars posters on your wall.

I think the thing is, listening to Led Zep or Robert Plant needs an intelligent music loving ear, they are not popstars! I just can't see how the shallow ms Jones would have ever been a fan.

Totally agree - read it twice and can't find a single snide remark about Liz Taylor being fat or a Poor Me reference to her own lack of fabulous jewellery.

It was Jim Kerr that she had posters of in the 80s, which is still bizzare as she would have been about 25-30. I agree with everything you say about Percy and Led Zep, it is definately not him though.

There is no RS - it's all fiction.

That's why I find Liz Jones so unpalatable - she supposedly gets paid for confessional journalism (indeed, it's become her trademark) and yet it appears to be largely fiction. Or lies, some might say.

I reckon she'll have to wind down the RS story now. It's obvious from the comments on her latest Diary column that no-one believes it. The unfortunate thing is that it will go the same way as the 'poverty & debt' story - it will fizzle out without explanation.
She earns big bucks for writing third rate fiction and passing it off as 'confessional'. Disgraceful

The references to huge chemical induced breasts appeared a few weeks after the pix of Phillip Schofield on This Morning with a woman who had gigantic boobies went viral on t'internet.
She's rubbish at pop culture, always starting on peeps that have been history for ages.

Her cruel rejection re modelling was for bad skin. Not something I've ever heard of being a problem as long as you have the figure.

It's an odd article for LJ to write. Not her usual style at all - almost anonymous.
Perhaps the Mail didn't renew her contract and she's now submitting freelance articles?

Anyhow, why have the MOS suddenly started allowing comments on the Diary - do you think they're trying to gauge (by public opinion) whether Liz is worth her salary?

The trouble with Liz's 'fiction' is that it implicates real people. Yes, we all know there is no real rock star romance but Jim Kerr and his longterm girlfriend are now splashed all over the internet. Worse, in my view, was the Married Man saga a couple of years ago, which I'd forgotten about. Choosing to fantasise and write about a man from her own village was beyond the pale, even if he was fictionalised as well she still put suspicion on every bloke in Exmoor and upset a lot of wives.

I'd almost forgotton about the Married Man! Was he a vet or a farming neighbour? I remember she had no qualms about going after him, even though he was married.

As you say, it was probably yet more fiction, but it does implicate real people.
You only have to google Jim K.. and Liz Jones name pops up!

Just found the Diary all about him. I truly don't know how she got away with this, fact or fiction:

I'd almost forgotten about the "Married Man" as well, but I did remember about the time when she was "double parked"

Can't wait for the diary to come online on Saturday about 8pm to see where the RS story goes - but it'll probably just be the usual boring stuff about sick animals, feral children, mothers etc, etc. Won't it?

Or maybe she'll decide to invent another male suitor - perhaps another one young enough to be her son.

Oh dear. Bad skin. They had to tell her something, and I suppose that worked. I have an acquaintance who went to an agency to ask about modelling--they told her she was too heavy by 10 pounds or so and asked her to come back if she lost them. She did and was on the cover of some European version of Elle--I'm not familiar with the magazine--a few months later. They don't seem to have asked Liz to ditch the zits and come back.

It's true. Steroids don't produce a massive rank. If they did, why would people like Katie Price go under the knife, and why wouldn't male athletes who have taken them have massive racks? Don't they work primarily to bulk up muscles? I'd love to see a good waist-up picture of her when she was 19 or so in order to get a sense of whether they were in fact as she described or more or less what they are now. Or . . .. gasp . . . something like a 34B and yet horrifying to Liz because they looked like THEY BELONGED TO A WOMAN--and she doesn't like women.

But it's puzzling as to why she talks about a top-heavy condition that she apparently put an end to decades ago.

One of the comments I wrote last week suggested that her editors tell her to write a column without the words "I", "me", "mine", or "Rock Star". And lo, with the Taylor piece, she's done that. I'd like to think I have an influence on the editors, but I suspect the same challenge has been mentioned in hundreds of readers' comments the editors have sorted through over the years. From the viewpoint of this harpy, it's a shame that she did that in a column about Liz Taylor--it would have been fun to see her parallel her stormy marriage to a flop of a writer to Liz Taylor's stormy marriage to the not just handsome but incredibly talented Burton.

This is my take on the Diary:

It was very popular when she was writing about planning her wedding and her marriage to Nirpal. At that time she was primarily known as a fashion journalist and getting sacked from Marie Claire. Even I have to admit it was popular - loads of people bought the MOS and turned straight to Liz's Diary to read the latest. She always finished on a cliffhanger, even back then.

When her marriage ended she moved to Exmoor and tried to milk it for all it was worth, but the bottom line is that her readers lost interest with the sick animal stories etc. Ever since then she's tried to introduce various topics - her love life, her financial woes, her facelift, even her mother.

But none of it makes the same car crash reading as her marriage did - and so she invented the RS.

When did her marriage end - 2009? She's had almost three years since then of being paid to write a 'confessional' diary which appears to be mainly fiction.

Maybe the MOS should let Shona Sibary have a go at the back page of the You mag

Just been looking at Led Zep videos on YouTube and came across this comment under one of them, from someone who says they live in Texas -

I found out the other day from a very reliable source that Robert Plant is now an Austin resident - he's been spotted all over the city. I hope that I'm lucky enough to run into him one day. (I will meet Robert Plant. I will meet Robert Plant. I will meet Robert Plant...) I have this song is my ringtone on my Blackberry - it's my absolute favorite Led Zep song.
Over on Mumsnet (and Twitter) there is even more proof: R.Plant + P.Griffin have shacked up !!!

BreatheEasier Thu 08-Sep-11 21:52:29
Well their neighbor on twitter just confirmed that Robert Plant and Patty Griffin have moved in together in Austin (next door to her no less) so I guess he's officially out of the running...although I still question how he was ever in the running. I still think he should sue (but that's more because I would very much like to see Liz sued..."In Which He Takes Me To Court for Lying")

@raprovosty @alymuse Good morning neighbor! And when I say neighbor, I'm talking about Robert Plant. #celebritynextdoor

@alymuse @raprovosty lucky you. the word is that he is living in Austin with Patty Griffin. Is that really true? very pretty twitpic of you btw...

@raprovosty @alymuse yes! They live next door and are extremely friendly and down to earth! They fit right in here in Austin!
