I LOVE the song ("algeBa" destroys it, though ).The lyrics, the arrangement, everything about it!The video is a hot burning mess; a true disaster of epic proportions.I don't know how anyone would let this girl shoot it, let alone release it to the public. This is as low budget as it gets and she tries to look sexy but she ends up looking weird and uncomfortable. The fact that she chose to wear underwear to shoot a video for such a beautiful ballad speaks volumes to me and describes the exact way why I cannot get into her.

(The funny thing is that she delivered a great video for the worst song on the album -RTW and the videos for BTINH and 1+1, two of the best ballads on the album, were sloppy and poorly thought and executed.A shame...)

I like the video. It's very low budget though. With all the heat, i wondered if it was a way of promoting her fragrance called Heat but that came out months ago.

Like the song, but I think mainly because I saw it at Glastonbury.

I remember her saying "this a song about War" and then singing "Make love to me" a lot.

I know it references war imagery and whatnot but I'd hardly say it's about it.

The song is a bit stupid, the way she sings "one plus one equals TWO!" I just can't take it seriously.

Did she really say that???Either the pregnancy is affecting her mental capacity a lot or I've been right all along; the girl has no perception of HER music

Love the song, the video is beautiful. I didn't know that Beyonce said that the song is about war, but my interpretation of that and the song is that even though there are wars and the world can be a frightening place, couples still have each other for comfort and love. Or perhaps she is playing the part of a woman who's partner is going off to war and she wants them to spend a special last night together. I don't think Beyonce is so daft as to believe that the song is LITERALLY about war.

She never said the song is about war at Glasto, the actual quote is 'it talks about, when the world is at war, all we need is love'. She was referencing that lyric in the song, the song is not all about war lol.

On the subject matter of this song, loved it the moment I heard it. Sounds like something Prince would have done and I'm glad she's bringing these sorts of arrangements back into the mainstream. The video, conceptually is awesome as well and Glasto is the best performance of it that I've seen. Overall, a good package.

Thank you for giving me the true quote and not what stick_of_rock suggested. I didn't think Beyonce was that daft! Lol that's what I thought she meant

I totally agree with you on the song though - love the song, love the video. Didn't see her at Glasto - only caught a couple of the songs. Might Youtube now.

That makes much more sense! It could even be metaphorical (war = confusion and chaos in general), so that actually does seem logical.

I don't know how I feel about it. This era seems really underwhelming. I mean, maybe it's because it's came after the Sasha Fierce era (which had THAT X-Factor performance, singles like Sweet Dreams and Halo, the worldwide sensation of Single Ladies, the black and white theme, the great sales worldwide) or it's just the fact that the singles so far have been a bit weak, but either way I think this era will probably end up her least succesful one.

(sort of like Avril's Goodbye Lullaby, Rihanna's Rated R, Leona's Echo etc)

The eras been off to a very strong start in terms of album sales but I understand what you mean. For me, the last era was spectacular but the songs weren't my favourite. This era is fine so far aside from the single sales, but the songs are of a much higher calibre (minus RTW).

But 1+1, I Care, Party, Rather Die Young, Love On Top, Countdown, End of Time, Schoolin' Life and Dance For You are for me the strongest songs of her career. You can tell that so much has gone into the thoughts behind the songs, the instruments, the change in her voice so it sounds live etc. And the videos/performances, the risks etc. have been great. So I prefer the music overall this era, but IASF as an era overall is pretty much unbeatable.
