hmmm. Well for one thing it won't decode Dolby Digital or DTS sound; although it's a 6.1speaker system.

i think that system just has 6 phono inputs for the 5.1 channels so to connect your dvd player it must have the 6 phono outputs, rear left, centre etc. if you do it should be fine, i have the DS533 from argos and it sounds very good and excellent reviews on line (£90)

you wont be disapointed with it, ive had mine for about 4 months now, (birthday present from sister ) if you want optical connection you will need to purchase an optical cable, all other leads are supplied. i use the phono (aux) for sky and when the vcr is used this automatically loops through the vcr and comes out in prologic as well as sky, optical for freeview and coaxial for dvd.

it took me a while to find out what volume levels to set the speakers at but i found the best is to turn the centre to full then down 6 surround to full and down 4 woofer depends what your watching but mainly up 8 and the bass and trebble to full then down 2, (you will know what i mean when you set it up)

Hope this helps, Have fun

I have this surround sound system from Argos. Very good value for money, had it for almost a year and no complaints.

Sainsburys are selling a Home Cinema Kit for £49.99 and that comes with a DVD player.

www.ebuyer.com are selling a integrated DVD player and amplifier solution. It was £50 for a while but has now gone up to £55 still they usually reduce it back to £50 at weekends when they have special offers on

anyway the item to look for is:AMW P8A5 Home Theatre Surround Sound DVD Player with Integral Amplifier includes 5 Speakers & Sub Woofer and here is a direct link: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=63632

Anyway i bought one a while back when they were £50 and am very impressed with it indeed. Its a very capable DVD player that works great with both commercial and home made movies, includes MP3/WMA playback, Radio tuner (FM/AM) so in effect is almost a complete hifi solution in one box.

The sound quality is top notch and it can deliver proper Dolby Digital on DVDs which not many £50 systems can do.

Try the Lg model FA P3000.

It currently has £50 off at Argos. For an extra few quid, you could have a 5.1 system with prologic2, dts and dolby decoders.
I bought one last week and it has a brilliant sound. It has optical, phono and coaxial inputs, so you can connect dvd, sky and video up to it. You won't be disappointed.

I previously has the 2 of the Acoustic Solutions model 633. Had to take them back as they made a loud hissing noise on the phono input selection. Acoustic Solutions said it was a bad batch
