Glad to join this very useful and nice forum.

From other topics about time-scheduled recording in non-Freesat mode with a Humax Foxsat, I concluded that it was possible with macros in a universal remote control. However detailed instructions were totally missing.

I preferred trying through the URC's "Timer Setup" menu... and it perfectly works.

Please however note that :

1) the default recording duration is limited up to two hours, so if the programme that you want to record is longer, you'll have to schedule a second recording just after the first one (maybe with a short break, I haven't tried yet).

2) you can only time-schedule recordings within the 24 hours to come. There is no possibility to select a specific date.

3) your Humax Foxsat must be left switched-on during the whole process, with the URC aimed towards it so it can transmit the controls towards the receiver's front panel.

Or install Raydon's modded firmware which lets you add non-Freesat channels in Freesat mode so you can set up normal (fixed time and repeat) timers?

I had searched Humax non-freesat time-scheduled recording in the web and in this forum and could only find that unless using macros in an URC, it was impossible. I didn't know that Raydon option.

As far as this firmware is concerned, I don't like to install non-official softwares whose I don't know exactly the functions and the way to use them. And there are no detailed instructions about this Raydon.

My process uses the official existing firmwares and controls, it only has effect on the URC's controls and doesn't endanger the HUMAX's functions and softwares. I prefer to carry on using it.

If other members in this forum are non-specialists like me, my PDF notice remains on line and can be used with any other URC.
My only wish was to share my discovery with other Humax users who, like me, regret this lack in our receivers' non-Freesat mode.

I wouldn't worry about the Humax hack causing problems - AFAICT it leaves all the original software in place, and just adds some other very standard linux software on top. It's just like installing a new programme on a windows PC. I think there may be more DS regulars running "hacked" Humax boxes than standard ones! Plus the standard software is available to download from the Humax website, so you can easily revert the box to factory fresh condition if you want to.

However, while the FTP service works well, and the UPnP software works as well on the Humax as anything else (that particular software doesn't seem to like Sony TVs, whatever you run it on), the channel editor has issues that you need to be aware of. Most importantly, it will interfere with the nice way that Freesat adds/removes/changes/moves channels automatically without the user needing to do a thing or even know it's happened. The PC channel editor also has a steep learning curve, because lots of the things that look like they're possible don't actually work.

Of course the URC solution has issues too - like putting something in the way of the IR beam! But it's a good idea Mahelf, and will certainly appeal to the technically cautious.

My solution is just to forget that non-Freesat mode is there most of the time, because it's too much hassle. It seems to me that it's intentionally designed to be a pain to use.

I don't run the modded firmware but have considered it so I can record the Red Button streams to get the MotoGP coverage that goes awol from Freeview (as happened the weekend just gone). The only problem there is correctly anticipating which stream it will be on when I am not there to select it manually. Of course, this something the URC method will not help with.
