And the worst thing is, all the episodes have focused on these two...Alfie has been in nearly all the episodes this year...

And because of that screentime for storylines involving way better characters like the Masoods and The Brannings have been cut down to make way for Kat and Alfie and their eternal misery...

Their return has been a disaster imo, and they should never have bothered bringing them back. The characters are ruined forever now.

I know, it annoying because I want to see those other families and find their stories a lot more interesting plus, Shane Richie can't act (there I said it) and Jessie Wallace can't move her forehead which is emotionally distressing to watch. It's times like that where the BBC should subtitle certain characters feelings.
They need the axe.

The sad thing is, because of their status they will never be axed. Its clear they have no plan for them at all. It makes me wonder why they even bothered bringing them back.

I think the only way BK could save this from getting any worse is to move Kat & Alfie out of the Vic pronto and give the place a new owner. Though I can't see Shane 'Mr EastEnders' being too happy with that as he said he quit in 2005 due to them putting Chrissie in the Vic....

I agree. I think if they leave they won't be missed or as iconic opposed to their last stint.

wow really!? If that true I will add that to my list of reasons why SR is a douche. That's also so true, they will never be axed. I could see BK axing the Masoods before he lets go of his precious Kat & Alfie.

Yeah he said in an interview after he left that he was deeply hurt when they moved the Moon's out of the Vic to make way for Chrissie and that he felt it left Alfie with no where to go.

I'm sure it'll show up in a Google search if you look hard enough. Should be 2006 time I'd imagine.

And to think they really intended the babyswap storyline to go on for years. Is what we have now any better?

deeply hurt? He does know he isn't Alfie Moon, right? What a complete tool.

I don't believe that at all. BK has since said he knew Sam would be leaving when he first took over so if he knew Sam was going to be gone in 12 months how could the storyline continue without the main character being part of it?

Alot of spin went on following the baby swap outrage and if you look hard enough at all the statements etc you'll see there are cracks all over it.

That's true. Here's the article he said it in.

I agree they probably won't move Alfie out of The Vic, mores the pity

I know right!

I get the feeling that they put Kalfie back into The Vic because SR demanded it as part of his return...

It would have made far more sense for Tanya to buy The Vic with Greg and use it to bring in the other Cross family members.

SR is a totally overrated actor anyway. At times I feel like I'm watching Tracey Beaker when he has scenes with Shenice or any other kid, that annoying 'cheeky chap' thing he does annoys the hell out of me..

It says a lot about Richie's ego that he thinks Alfie ''deserves'' to be in The Vic. What's so special about Alfie that leads him to think that? It was much better when Chrissie and Den booted him out. It's a shame they can't do it again

I would have said a firm no to that, why should he have such a big input into his character?so bacially he has locked the writers into a corner where Alfie can go as he has to stay in the Vic! To me that comes across as completely ungracious if he is making those demands. I also hate how he use to win awards, he can't act. Who the F--- was voting for him? Probably the president of his fan club.

He doesn't deserve to be in EastEnders full stop. It's funny how after he left, he was out of work for ages, then was doing really crappy dramas.

Then all of a sudden after being out of touch with EE for years, he thinks he knows what the fans want...the overall opinion surrounding their return has been mainly negative...

I hope they get axed/leave soon. I have a feeling JW may leave but Alfie will stay. There are enough Moons on the Square to justify him staying on with out Kat...*shudders*

I'd be willing to bet money Richie won't leave EE, or The Vic, any time soon.

I have heard loads of negativity around Kat and Alfie so I don't know why they are still there, that's taking their 'status' out it they should have been gone long before now, maybe the new EP will actually posses a backbone and do the right thing?

According to Shane Richie, we want Kalfie to live in misery and despair...

I don't know about everyone else but I most certainly DON'T want unhappy Kat and Alfie. I'm sick of seeing her miserable face on TV in every episode, and I'm also sick of Alfie being selfish...

Bring back the 2005 Kalfie...The characters haven't been the same since...
Theres some truth in what he said.

A happy or content Kat & alfie would be boring to watch. Soaps require drama. But the writers have just piled misery upon misery on Kat & Alfie since they returned & they bring the viewers down with their relentless suffering. I cant imagine what would attract people to them if they didnt know them in their previous incarnation....

I dont think them being together is the problem per se, its the WRITING!
