Do you give bones to your dog or cat?

I was just about to offer my neighbour a lamb bone. But the weight of opinion seems to be not to give dogs cooked bones - so I shall throw it away now.

I used to give bones to my cat. I guess that was dangerous too?

Do you all throw bones away?

My dog loves bones and I give him all types cooked and raw, except for cooked chicken bones.

The only downside is that it makes his crap white and it's a nightmare to see on the patio.

My dogs stink on cooked bones ... they love them but I dont!

Raw is fine for my dogs.

Yes I give mine bones.

I always love how they crack and chomp them and save a tiny bit to play with

I'd never give my dog cooked roast bones He has gotten ahold of many when out walking before I have realised and it has resulted in many vet trips. He has had blockages and it can get very serious. I understand raw bones are okay but my dog isn't interested in them and I am secretly pleased as no doubt if a chunk of that came off that could cause a blockage or more also.

raw bones yes, or a roast lamb leg bone when we have them

but we don't let him eat the actual bone when they're cooked - only chew them to get the marrow out and pick the meat that's left on them

Only big marrowbones that they can't chew up into pieces or splinters of bone off.

I've never given any of my cats bones as I thought if they don't crunch them up enough they could damage their insides. One day I was at the vet I asked his opinion and he told me never to give bones especially chicken ones as he has had to repair several cats back passage where bones have come stuck and pulled the lining forward in their efforts to go to the loo. Doesn't bear thinking about.

I've never given my dog bones. Just something I have never done.

Never gave bones to any of my dogs after my mothers dog got one stuck in his throat and had to have an operation.Theres plenty of alternatives to keep their teeth clean without putting them on any danger.

I've heard that it's the best idea as boes can 'splinter' and they'll hurt their mouths or even swallow them

I never give my cat bones to eat. Chicken and especially fish bones can be dangerous. If I give him a piece of fish for a treat I always remove the tiny bones first.
