I know you've gone for now, but just in case - my emails been playing up recently, and I tried to send you one the other day but I'm not sure whether technology failed me or not. Did you get it? |

ac, Mushroom - I agree that the flat is meh. It does feel like they are giants on a dollhouse set and that the camera needs to be about 10 feet further back. Unfortunately I think 10 feet further back would take them into the Masoods' front room.
I miss the old flat and I know for a fact I'm going to miss the old sofa. What the hell is that two seater wicker effort doing in its place? Oh yes, only a two seater wicker effort can fit in the dollhouse. On the bright side, the woodwork isn't navy blue and their duvet wasn't that shiny brown polyester number. And let's just be thankful for the fact that the set designers have actually built them a bedroom - I was semi-convinced we'd never again see a duvet of any description. Old Flat was roomy and open and had proper Chryed furniture. I miss Old Flat. |

She could have also gotten in touch with them via email, maybe through the Masala Queen or something...then Qadim wouldn't be able to walk in on her trying to phone Syed : p. Yeah, I know, not enough drama :sleep :

What I didn't understand was why she tried to call Syed while her dad was there : confused: Why didn't she wait until he'd gone to work the next day? She was just asking to be caught!

Ok.......if I keep trying to catch up I'll never post tonight, the thread is moving very very fast!
Loved everything about tonight, I certainly wasn't expecting any Chryed in the red button scenes so I was delighted with them! But first thing first, the scenes on the main episode were also good.......and telling. Syed feeling smothered from every angle yet in his mind it makes perfect sense that Qadim would want to see Amira divorced and rid of him (Syed). I think that up the moment when Yusef went to speak to Qadim there might've been some truth in that, after all, Qadim could have tracked Syed down ages ago if he had wanted to hurt him. Now though, it's a different story. Yusef's words were chilling enough to have awaken every dormant emotion in Qadim. Yusef appealed to him as a muslim, a father, a member of the community. Syed has no idea of the danger he's in! Yusef and Qadim have very little interest in Christian, Syed it's their focus and I fear something very nasty is on the way for him!The red button scenes were also telling and I wish they had been part of the main show. Syed is clearly still feeling responsible for what happened and I think that just as in Qadim's case, Syed's guilt has been reawaken as he tries in vain to find Amira. He might also thinkg that perhaps he could bring closure by tracking her down and apologising to her, I think he wants to make peace or at least try to. That's a very Syed thing to do! And yet, he has no idea of what's in store for him once he finds Amira, nothing can prepare him for the bombshell that's about to be dropped on him! I thought he looked so young (and impossibly beautiful *sighs dreamily *) in the sofa snuggle. In some ways it reminded me a bit of Hebden Bridge though of course he's a very different man today. There was so much tenderness and love in all of Chryed' scenes in their new flat, love the fact that they have a bedroom, a very personal and intimate space just for the two of them! It felt so real and gorgeous and loving! Can you tell I loved it? ![]() Amira? Well, let's just say that I chuckled when she dropped the glass Sorry Preeya, but that wasn't your finest acting moment. I'm not sure if Amira has feelings for Syed or if she's thinking of a way out, I guess we'll find out on Thursday. Finally, well done Daran!! His writing has been brilliant, especially for Chryed and Kat. I think he relished that............and we love him for it! ![]() . I think you're right, Quadim was volatile but potentially letting it go and even moving on, for now at least, until Yusef came and stirred up all the feelings of bitterness, resentment, unfairness and wounded pride. It's going to be bad -so much hatred from the pair of them! ![]() Hi Nadine, Ardchoile, MH & all x Great posts -alarmed, glum, annoyed, resigned, admiring, laughing...or is that just me....& still falling behind....

Well I feel bad if I delete someone on facebook I don't like very much anymore, so I can imagine Syed has a few issues with deleting a wedding picture when it's representative of him 'deleting' a woman from his life he treated badly and cared for and presently has no clue if she's ok or not.
Numpties need help. It worries me that they, you know, exist. ![]() ![]() And to make myself a bit clearer, I wasn't suggesting that some residual guilt, "brotherly" affection and concern for Amira were unlikely emotions for Syed to have, just that the dear old Beeb in their infinite wisdom ![]() Sorry if I'm not making not sense, I knew the thread would be flying tonight and I nearly didn't drop in thinking it would be too much for my dizzy old head, but I couldn't resist in the end ![]()

I agree, the Christian line about Qadim having Amira holed up in Pakistan could seem a little insensitive but I don't think he would really want this to be true or thinks this is the reality....I wonder if maybe it was included for kind of that soap irony thing of whereby he says that but it turns out she actually is holed up somewhere, but not in Pakistan....much closer to home!!
This made sense in my head, written down I've confused myself  |

That's a point, I hope so too, and that it's about her wanting freedom from her situation and not Syed at all, and that Chryed can help her, as a team.
I wonder - was Qadim always such a bully? Or has prison/the shame hardened him? Before, Amira was a spoilt, flouncy princess who had clearly never been treated badly in her life (....until her father abandoned her with no word and she was left homeless..anyway) and indulged in every way (and still is to some extent). Maybe he does blame Amira for the mess on some level and takes it out on her? Something along the lines of 'if you'd listened to me you would have been spared this!'. I didn't sense that he believed it was her fault he was gay though..... |

I'm sure that was part of the point, just badly done IMO. You could have had Syed say 'you don't think Qadim would have had her holed up in Pakistan?' in worried voice and Christian say 'no no way, she's probably fine, I'm sure she's got a new guy, enjoying being single' or something else trite but reassuring, whilst looking a bit concerned over Syed's shoulder. Then cut to Amira in her gilded palace. That way you get the 'soap irony' without making either of them look like insensitive twunts.
I can just about buy it being Christian suddenly feeling insecure and a bit bitchy over the prospect of Amira returning to their lives - I think, having been separated from her and all thoughts of her, he'd rather just consign her to the past. But, when he sees her, I hope he will be the Christian of SBM - that when he's presented with her, a human being rather than just a bad memory he'd rather forget, then he'll be more sensitive. But yeah, plot driven stuff, or, at the very least, unclear motivations here. |

BIB 1 - It came out of nowhere. I hate men like Qadim and what they stand for, and yet.......(thanks for the Syed/Qadim thoughts too).
BIB 2 - Yep - and it's BS, plot driven rot. A theme since May 2011. I loathe it muchly. Nightwatchman yayayayay - and I really did feel bad ![]() Hi meg! Everything except the laughing. Well, I mocked the glass drop - does that count? |

It looked like they had to do all their acting next to walls because the flat didn't have a middle. Very strange indeed.
Old Flat was roomy and open and had proper Chryed furniture. I miss Old Flat. but it wasn't as bad as I though it would be - just odd and not like Janine's flat used to be - it confused me?

BIB: yeah, I really didn't like that bit either. I can only assume it was an ill-judged attempt at humour, from either Christian or Daran Little. Hopefully the latter, cos I really don't like the way Christian is coming across as so insentive lately. Whatever some people may say, he never wanted to hurt Amira, didn't enjoy deceiving her, and I really don't believe he'd be so indifferent and uncaring about her situation
Sort it out, writers, please!!!If it's any comfort to you, I think the ill-judged humour may have been Daran's in this case. Anyone who follows him on Twitter, bless him, will know that as good as his writing can be he can come up with some seriously dodgy comments, especially when he's had a sherbert or seven

I'm watching Don't Tell The Bride and imagining Chryed on it.
![]() ![]() ![]() Edit: Syed, please don't leave and let Christian sort it all out. I implore you. For the sake of humanity, don't do this. |

I was confused too. I need some proper long shots to understand what on earth it is supposed to look like, because at the moment it is walls + furniture clinging to the walls by a thread. They also need some lights.
I've spent all night watching it all over and over again though. It just seems squashed despite the fact they've added the teeny hall bit and bedroom, which was not how it was
