Artist who recieves the most unfair criticism
.
For me it is Chris Brown and Ke$ha. Partly Brown because people still remember the awful assault he did against Rihanna and will not give his music any chance at all. Everyone deserves a second chance. Ke$ha because her songs are hard to sing as some are autotuned alot. Songs like Harold Song and Goodbye show she can sing decently but her label want her to onlyrelease certain songs i think. Eminem also gets criticised for not being as good as he was. But i think he is still just as good as he was and has matured and would be weird if he still raped about drugs at his age. Still great Who gets the most unfair stick in your opinion? |

Adele doesn't get 1/10 of the admiration she deserves. Her album should have sold alot more than it has done.

Christina Aguilera.
Not saying she's innocent, because she's definitely had her moments...but I don't think it warrants the treatment she gets. When it's not ripping her for flopping, it's making fun of her weight and there's a general lack of respect for someone who is actually a pretty big name in pop history. One bad year doesn't eradicate that kind of legacy, and she's clearly not taking it lying down with the success of The Voice and Moves Like Jagger. Gaga, too. Like Christina, she definitely has her moments of deserved criticisms but people en masse REALLY have it in for her. Frothing at the mouth for her demise. The moment she remotely falters, she's practically sentenced to a public execution. I mean, it's not exactly a rational reaction is it? |

Christina Aguilera
People are calling her a bitch just because she made bad comments about some people...9 years ago.She has obviously grown and if anything, I appreciate the fact that she shows her true colours on camera and not act like a sweet girl and then go backstage and be a bully (*cough Katy Perry *cough).I don't think she's really a bitch, she just can't hold back and sometimes she comes across bitter, but that's not who she truly is...And the "oversinging" argument is also a bit unfair. Her first era was full of oversinging, but she evolved and in most of her other performances, "oversinging" was necessary... When it comes to Chris Brown, I started liking him again when Rihanna gave that interview on 20/20.I felt really bad about her label using the event as a launching pad for her promo and while Chris is a jerk, Rihanna presented him as immature which was much better than him coming across as a monster.I can understand why people don't like him.I love his music (F.A.M.E. is amazing!!), but some people need to be able to relate to the singer's personality to enjoy the music (including me to an extent) and granted what he did, it might be difficult for some to listen to his songs. |

Completely agree with Kesha, she doesnt take herself seriously and writes all her own stuff - dont know why pop music has to be so intense, i think she lightens it up a lot with the humour she has in her music videos & interviews etc, definitely gets a lot of flack and shes never even says anything outrageous i.e "MY MUSIC IS A BODY OF WORK", think shes just out to have a good time!
Id also say Christina; shes an artist that has never been 'fake' , says whats on her mind and personally delivers great results musically - i feel like the past couple years has put a dent on her narrative. She still is in that league with the best of them but its amazing how people can get kicked to the curb; sometimes i personally find beyonce can be too pre meditated and false like she has followed a scripted guide to becoming an "icon", britney tends to be stiff and lady gaga can be completely irritating; at the very minimum for trying to flog generic pop music as a work of art. So yeah i think christina has the full package (or did) but if she works hard im sure she'll be great again! |

Leona Lewis - No matter what the girl does, she has been critisized from day one. Shockingly, the most hate comes from her home country. We have a singer like Leona Lewis, who is the closest thing we have to a Mariah/Whitney type singer, she's down to earth and has heaps of talent and yet people seem to really hate the girl. I'll never understand why. She gets called boring for sticking with nice dresses and curly hair and being polite, she gets called fake and a "tranny" when she tries to be bold with her fashion, and if she ever did change and started becoming very outspoken people would say she's become a huge diva and is too big for her boots. It's sad that the UK can't support one of the more talented artists of our generation.
Lady Gaga - I'm no fan, and I do think she does certain things for attention but looking at her interviews she is actually a good person. She tries to inspire, she tries to help people feel happy with who they are. Anyone who does that gets a tick in my mind. She always seems so thankful, she's always inspiring her fans to be happy as they are. She gets unreal amounts of hate, but I guess she gets unreal amounts of love too so it sort of evens it all out. |

Eminem deserves the critism for his last few albums, can't say i've ever rated him that high but i enjoyed his singles as a youngster, now he just puts mediocer verses to cheesy/boring chorus's. Not very original or interesting to listen to..

Britney Spears, because some people seem to miss the line between "Artist" and "Entertainer", and I've only ever seen Britney class herself in the latter category.
Also Madonna. The impact she's made and the songs she's written and the way she has pushed the boundaries with sexuality and religion seems to be forever overlooked by people. Instead they seem to focus on SEX and Hard Candy. |

Chris Brown's criticism is NOT unfair. He smashed up a dressing room because he didn't like the questions. This means his violence against Rihanna was not a one-off. He is a thug and I would never buy the music of such a caveman.
Christina Aguilera gets far too much criticism because she just barely got a number one album with Bionic. Call me picky, but she still got a number one album. Sales are not everything! Everyone is allowed a slight creative mis-step, all her contemporaries have had or will have one. It seems to just be the cool thing to diss her for no solid reason. I'm not even a fan, I just don't know why she's fallen out of favour. |

Christina Aguilera, by far. People are awful towards her and even though she might not be whiter than white in terms of her own personality (there have been one too many reports about her being bitchy to her peers), she's still a great artist and one flop era shouldn't be enough to warrent dragging her name through the mud. I think Perez Hilton is mainly at fault for the hate she gets. Wasn't it he who bashed her for ripping off Gaga and started the whole Floptina rubbish?

Are you kidding me? I like Adele (SLY is a masterpiece) but she has received the recognition she deserves, and then some. To question her sales considering what she has achieved with them is also a bit stupid. In fact, it is idiotic.

Chris Brown is a terrible human being and the fact certain females feel even the barest flicker of sympathy towards him makes me despair.

Chris Brown- What he did was bad, really bad. But a person with a past also had a future. And hes given his all with F.A.M.E and made some of the best songs around right now. For his talent and craft he should be celebrated. His private life is just that. It seems like its the general public who keep bringing it up more than chris or rihanna themselves.
Leona Lewis- She is always called boring etc. Tbh THATS gotten boring now. No she doesnt have that VA VA VOOM that some other stars have but its the talent she has that makes up for it. Just let the girl sing and perform. If you want theatrics and constant non sensical tweets about how fun her life is then go to Rihanna/Katy Perry etal Britney- No she isnt what she once was but what i find funny is back then no one had an issue with her lip syncing.. she did it all the time and everyone loved her for it. A lot of people ignore the well known fact that Blackout started the whole electro pop trend that GaGa etal went with for their music the year after. And Femme Fatale is the first album to embrace the dubstep influenced pop that a lot of people seem to now be using in their music. Thats all that i can think of at the moment. |

Paul McCartney
Every time he's in the paper it's 'the Frog Song singer, Paul McCartney' as if its the only song he's ever written. Also Rolling Stone magazine has hated him since 1970, and whilst he's well liked in the US, most middle-aged British people despise him for some reason.

I definitely say Madonna gets unfair criticism especially in the Erotica era where some took it too far by slamming it all when the album itself is a masterpiece but focused on the imagery, presenting a backlash...and then they attacked the tour the summer of 93 too. I think it showed then though that no matter how much criticism she faced, she could still sell shit loads
But she still is overlooked a lot like MJ was....but Madonna really has shown a lot and is ready to show one heck of a lot more. Then i will agree on the Britney comments. Mainstream audiences have slammed her live shows for her not singing live....but whatever, she is an entertainer and she IS entertaining STILL so that is what matters and her shows are fantastic too by the clips on YT i have seen. And her albums may have vocoders/tuning to her vocals, but it works and it is killer! Christina Aguilera, she was a loveable bitch in the Stripped era....but she doesnt deserve the backlashings she gets! I mean WTF??? She is a sensational vocalist that knocks so many out of the arena....including her contemporaries! And has two extraordinarily EPIC albums under her belt. I dont understand why she gets slammed? |

But everyone my age and up to about 40 absolutely adores him, because we're in the second wave now where it's truly apparent what an extraordinary writer and musician he is. Whereas middle aged people first had their musical awakening in the late 70s - early 80s when The Beatles were completely off the radar, and this coincided with John Lennon's death where everyone pushed Paul aside to worship him, so most people of that age have trouble with him. I think most people born after that understand how incredible he is.

I love his music and I support him but are you kidding? He's not misunderstood at all!!Have you read his tweets??He creates a rant every day and of course other people provoke him but his responses to them do not justify for the man you are describing.I am a fan of his music, but I have come to terms with the fact that Chris Brown is a little boy playing around with his toys (and sometimes even wasting his talent while doing so).Since Rihanna forgave him (and since her label used him MANY a time to promote Rihanna which really pissed me off) he should not be slammed, but he's not going to be regarded as an angel on earth and fairly so!

By far, Celine Dion. No one has much good to say about her, and when they do its to say how she 'screams' or 'murders a song'. Celine does neither of these. Her album sales alone speak volumes, and I think she is one of the greatest singers in the world at the minute.
People honestly need to listen to her, instead of passing comment so unfairly. |
