I can't agree with this statement. Sure his recent albums haven't been as strong as his earlier stuff but his current material is alot better than what almost every act out there releases today, who would only dream of writing what Matthers did over a decade ago.

And about the 'mediocre verses to cheesy boring chorus'..since you never rated M.M, have you actually listened to what he does now? I don't usualy listen to people's music I don't like, so couldn't really form a valid opinion.

Matt Cardle is worthy of a mention in this thread, in my opinion.

It feels like some people were determined to dislike his first post-XF song before they even heard it. If people find something bland and boring, that's fair enough, but it seems to be a bit of a sport for some people to repeat this about Matt again and again. I don't think the guy could please some people no matter what he does. They'd still say it was bland and boring.

mmm..Not sure about that, although I thought that 76-84 was very patchy indeed even with some decent songs on RAOTW and Just Supposin they never quite re-captured that golden early -mid 70's period.

I hate what they have become over the last 25 years or so, and it's difficult to try and explain to - mostly younger - people, that at one stage Quo were the coolest band around...mind you, rumour has it that Lancaster & Coughlan are due to make a return, now that would be interesting.

I prefered to 76-82 sort of era, they were reall good then, released some cracking albums in that period.

yes they are talking with Alan and John , a documentary is on the cards for their 50th anniversary

The best albums were the early 70,s as in classics but live 79-84 they were awesome

I thought Alan hated Rick and Francis as he felt they'd stabbed him in the back, and that he now lived in Australia extremely bitter about being kicked out of "his" band.

That's what a Quo-mad mate told me anyway, so if that's true, I'd be very surprised if he did come back. Though money talks, I suppose.

Really surprised Justin Bieber hasn't been mentioned yet. He gets arguably the most criticism of anyone, from people outside his target demographic saying he doesn't make "real music", when actually I find his songs to be really good. He's also wildly talented in playing multiple instruments and has writing credits on just about every song.

Are you for real!?! It's outsold every other album by miles!!! How more could she sell!!??!!

As for my answer, Lady Gaga. Period.

Massive exaggeration. He can play a couple of instruments to a decent level. No offense, but I think you may be a little easily impressed, because he can play just fine, but he is certainly not up there with those who play guitar/piano etc. for a living alongside their vocals.

I think he does get unfair criticism to be fair because he's a very easy target. I think it's because his hardcore fans are such absolute idiots with borderline mental problems that people think badly of Bieber himself.

The Adele post was sarcastic.

Sure, "wildly" is probably the wrong word. But he's a far way off from being an autotuned creation without any true musical ability, which is what his detractors seem to claim.

Agreed. He's certainly not in Rebecca Black territory. He clearly has something to him, and I respect the musical ability he does possess. It is incredibly hard to like someone with such a vile fanbase though.

cher lloyd - ye her song wasnt that good, but people call her un-talented, she does have talent, to hav 17million views on youtube for an audition is amazing stuff, and her prformance of stay was amazing, to say she has NO talent is extremelly unfair :/

I agree with everyone who has said Kesha.

I'm no fan of his but I'm gonna....I'm gonna...gonna defend... and I'm no fan of his...Justin Bieber here too. He's aimed at teenage girls. That's his target audience. So naturally, a shedload of people call him a girl. He's got a decent enough voice and he's using it to his advantage. We don't have to listen to his stuff. Just let the teenage and pre-pubescent girls swoon over him and listen to something else.

why? it has nothing whatsoever to do with him. now i cant say i am a fan. however, he does little to inspire his fans to behave badly. besides, there are grown adults that behave just as childish on this forum.

Alan went watching Quo last year when they toured Australia, they have cleared the air and Francis says he speaks regularly to Alan , they now know where all the money went and who caused the band to split

Alan wont join full time anyway due to his illness but its great that they are getting on

Christina got a hell of a lot of backlash and criticism after the failure of Bionic. One flop album and her career is labelled a flop? A joke and not needed. She will re bound next year, I am sure of it. The success of The Voice and her collab with Maroon 5 has set her comeback in motion already.

Prince.

The guy predicted the meltdown of the music industry and moved to selling albums via download in the mid-late 90s and everybody called him a weirdo and an idiot. He turned out to be totally correct but the perception of him as an idiot has remained, even though he's actually proved to be one of the wisest and most insightful artists of our times.

Since he started self-distributing he has moved seamlessly through jazz, funk, blues, latin, acoustic, traditional R&B, heavy rock and more, producing great music in all of those genres - but critics just slag him off every time he puts something out because they're annoyed that he hasn't simply remade 'Dirty Mind'. The poor guy can't win. He moves in a new direction and they moan because he doesn't sound like he used to, but when he records music similar to his 80s output they say he's stuck in a time warp and trying desperately to emulate his prior success.

As a live act, he is peerless. He is, simply, the greatest live performer alive in the world today, period. Hop Farm this Summer was the first time in many years that I've seen the British press actually acknowledge that.
