Gin and tonic
Why is this such a good combination. Juniper berries and quinine just seem to work better than any other spirit and mixer.
Feel free to suggest anything better

Never appealed to me as a drink which is strange because I love tonic water on it's own and I love the smell of gin.

Much prefer a voddie and diet coke myself but hey ho.
I must have got drunk on gin when I was a teenager and have never been able to stand the stuff since

It used to be called Mothers ruin. I remember my dad, who liked a whisky, switched to it for a short while many years ago and it made him very nasty which was totally out of character.

Gin & lemonade is OK, but G&T is best.
Vodka & Red Bull or Irn-Bru are both pretty good. Mrs #1 swears by Ameretto & Cola - tastes like a Bakewell tart! |

Feel free to suggest anything better ![]() ![]() A tall glass, lots of ice, a slug of gin, topped up with skinny tonic and a wedge of lime. Perfection in a glass.

Bourbon & giniger ale is my fave combo of the moment. I remember having gin when I was a teenager and in tasted rank. I may have had it in a long island iced tea since but that's about it.

I love G&T.
I used to go to a pub in London that made the best G&Ts i have ever had. They were served in a long frosted glass with good quality gin, tonic, lots of ice and a squeeze of fresh lime which was then added to the glass. I could knock them back easily. I do have G&T at home and buy the mini cans of tonic as i hate flat tonic water and I don't want one every night. |

Tall glass half filled with ice, a whole lime squeezed in then the flesh and skin chopped and bunged in. A big slug of Tanqueray No 10 and topped up with slimline tonic. A quick stir and then, well i'm exceedingly happy.

Couldn't have put it better myself. I'm a lover of good quality malt whiskies but nothing beats a G and T on a summers day. Very refreshing.

Himself has bought me a bottle of Hendricks gin as a pressie. I'm so looking forward to enjoying a gorgeous Hendricks and tonic with cucumber.

Got to agree that the blend of a G & T is just perfect. So refreshing and zesty! Got to partner it with lime - lemon is okay but lime adds more 'bite' and zest!

![]() but is it better with lemon or lime?? Was just talking about this the other day and having worked in the industry it always made me chuckle when people used say oh I love a G&T but it has to be Gordons, nothing else will do, and then go and order it with lemon

I love G&T or VAT, how about a Rye and dry ginger? Good splash of Canadian club, drop or two of angostura bitters (I do mean one or two drops), ice and dry ginger in a tall glass and optional slice of orange
![]() If you have the angostura bitters and the gin go for a 'pinkers', a 'Pink Gin', angostura bitters and gin with ice, I like a bit of plain water mixed with mine or you could use sparkling water if you need a bit of fizz. |

I much prefer lime. Always seems to taste better if the line gets a run around the rim of the glass as well as being squeezed before being dropped in.
