I would love to hear Leona sing Set Fire To The Rain though.

Well, I agree with those comments. It's about playing to your strengths not chasing trends as Leona is doing now. It's about making music that suits you as an artist (in Leona's case pop-r&b midtempos), music that rings true, and Collide just doesn't ring true and neither did most of Echo, it's not the Leona that was introduced to the public with Spirit, the Pop-R&b Leona.
Who cares what a tiny, tiny portion of the record buying public present online on various forums, twitter, etc thinks about Leona and her music. Similar things have been said about Adele, is she going to record an album of dance-pop to please this tiny minority? No. I wish people focused more on the real world rather than on YouTube views, twitter followers, comments on forums, etc. How can people say "she can't win either way"

She connected with an audience on a world wide level with Spirit despite what the doubters were saying about her, much like Adele is doing now.
What is a complete mystery to me is why she abandoned pop-r&b, the genre that made her successful

I'm guessing Spirit wasn't what she really wanted. In my opinion Leona's current artistic vision just doesn't work, it doesn't suit her and it's clearly not what radio and the public wants and expects from her. The latest interviews regarding "GlassHeart" don't instill much confidence in me, It sounds like Echo part 2 in the making to be honest. I hope I'm wrong, but unless she comes back with a killer pop-R&b midtempo I can't see her having any significant success.
