I prefer Echo to Spirit as well, having said that I like the 'album' of unreleased stuff more than Spirit as well

First, I do participate on one American Idol related blog, but I am a fan of Leona. Also, I'm not American, and I'm more a fan of X Factor than Idol. But I also have a few favorites from Idol.

I'm just realistic. I just don't think it's a good idea to perform a cover song from an old album. I also don't understand how could one performance on XF USA turn the song into a hit? This might be possible in the UK, but I don't think the impact would be the same in the USA. It would be just weird and random.
If you want a hit in the USA, you need radioplay. And American radio would not touch a cover song.

It's best to move forward. "Collide" at least went to #1 on BB Dance Chart. I don't think the song was even pushed to American radio, so it's not like it's a flop that should be just forgotten.

I would kill for an album of Leona unreleased material, apart from SOTC, HEYA and Stay I also love Save Myself (not sure if this is correct - but it is a Ryan Tedder track and very catchy).

I know people are probably right about Run, but heavens, this has got to be one of Leona's epic performances, just loved how she didn't sing it softly as on the album, but let out full throttle on XF, and I am sure US (majority) haven't had the pleasure, of course their charts are different to ours because of the airplay, I keep forgetting this. In a way, Naked reminds me of Run, particularly the bit from 2.10 mins.

I'm hoping that during these few months of Leona recording more for the album, there is a decision to move Leona (at least partially as that would be most likely) to another Sony label - either Epic or Columbia (not RCA, they are quite useless).

There's no point moaning about the lack of efficiency at Syco as it'll take a while for them to turn things around, if they ever do. The best we can hope for or probably even campaign for is a joint deal between Syco and Epic/Columbia (Syco will never completely sign Leona away).

Having said that, I guess it is possible that Syco are finally using their collective brain and working out a great strategy for the 2012 release.

Stube, I often wonder how much Leona is tied into her label, take Alex, for example, she managed to move, but could Leona, or is it a case that the label won't let her, cos I really don't understand it, unless Leona is contract bound and can't get out unless they are willing to release her. Failing this, I really hope Syco get their act together (lol, don't know how many times we have to say this).

I do believe that she should have a mix bag of uptempo, mid-tempo and ballads to give a balanced album- not too much of one thing
Even I was very confused when they made some songs on Spirit US friendly and then releasing IWB - very bizarre move.
It's virtually impossible to promote herself in the UK and USA in a short space of time. I do think October would be a better bet to launch the 2nd single in the UK, very latest in November.
Build up the release but make sure they get anothe single out - they need to keep her in the limelight, not several months out of it.

This is ideal but I still don't see it happening. I can't see them deciding to release any singles until they're 100% happy with the album. Say they release Trouble in November/ early December but come January/February they're still not happy with the album and it's further pushed back. I think Syco will only release singles when they are sure the album is up to standard so it will be sometime next year.

I do hope that they go for the 2 single plan again either way. I really don't see us getting another this year. So hopefully it'll be 1st single goes to radio end of January, released end of February, 2nd single goes to radio mid March and released in April with the album.

You have a point, but I think it depends on how many tracks they are not happy with, if it's say 3 or 4 I think they can go for a release, but if it were most of the album say 7 or 8 tracks then I'd agree.

But if they didn't go for a single release I'd still like to see Leona do a duet with someone possibly Jessie J or Adele if it could be arranged.

I don't like the idea of a 5 or 6 month vanishing act again.

Not releasing another single by Leona this year MIGHT be not a good move but I suppose Syco need to be 100% confident. But there is no guarantee even if it's perfected to how they want it given the time needed that it will be a success

Would love for Leona to do a duet, for goodness sake don't go over on the Alex thread, someone suggested the same thing, and they said it would be a backward step for Alex lol, Leona couldn't buy a hit if she tried. I am not trying to start a fan war, because I also buy Alex's music, it just tickled me. I don't know who is deluded here lol us or them!!!!
Anyway, Jessie J or Adele would be brilliant, then again, everyone wants to duet with Adele, but Jessie J often speaks about Leona so who knows. Preferably, though, I would like Leona to sing solo, but have duet on album or some future single.

It's why I prefer a single, Leona's got a little bit of momentum right now, if they get their finger out and get a track to radio and really put the effort in there's a good chance of it doing well, I'd take top 5 again right now, but to leave it will be a mistake.

Like I say I think it might be how much of the album they have to re-record, if they've got tracks singled out to go on and it's just a case of recording them and they are confident of a Feb or March album I'd say release the next single now for October radio, she can then do the UK X-Factor and perhaps DOI after Xmas (I assume DOI is back next year?)

That is my real concern, I don't know what the legal status is if a song is submitted and Syco do a demo then don't use it can they hang on to it?

If I were a song writer I'd not be going near her to be honest, even though I'd love to hear her sing one of my tracks, I'd just think it was going to be wasted.

I think it also depends on whether they believe they have two worthy tracks. Trouble might just be as great as the crtics say but they may prefer to release it with the album and there might not be another (in their opinion) single worthy track to release this year as an 'official 1st single'.

A duet would be great but that would mean she'd have to rustle up something great quite quickly and being quick isn't her strong point so I do believe we're looking at nothing until next year. Unless Fireflies in the labels eyes is great and the feature on there is pretty big.

I definitely agree, I do not see another single coming this year now. I'd bet good money that they want her to record some new stuff in the hope that the next single will come out of those sessions. I'm pretty sure Bleeding Love was one of the very last songs she recorded for Spirit. They would not put the album off at the last minute because they want her to record a couple of album tracks, it's singles they are looking for. I imagine when she's finished recording completely they'll weigh up their options and then pick the single out of what they have.

Yes I think BL was the very last, and Leona had to fight to get that out as lead single, so who knows what will happen this era, obviously Leona has different ideas to the label. Whoever makes the decision, hope it is the right one.

I still think they should invite fans to listen to some possible tracks.
