Hmm, not greatly impressed with Britney's latest offerings these last few years. I hate the overproduced effect, and she just sounds tired on all her recent albums. Britney Jean is pretty meh, aside from Perfume and Alien. Femme Fatale became samey and old pretty quickly, although I do still love He About to Lose Me.

Blackout is the best album she's ever released. Every single track sounds invigorating and edgy.

I really like it. I think it should have replaced the will.i.am collab. Scary is a bonus track on the Japanese version of FF. Shame it wasn't on the original

Japanese music releases always get the odd bonus song or two ....shame that they are not on all pressings but alas...some quality that we do not get to hear.

ANd yeah, Unbroken should have made the FF album cut it suited the vibe presented there and should be a release too...pretty much massive smash there but alas!

I may be one of the few fans that actually prefers her more recent/late 00s work - early this decade in comparison to her late 90s/early 00s run i dunno i just love the idea of a hidden darkness being presented and where she can go/wants to go musically....sounds so fragile and darker i guess...i like that.

It's a shame that in the UK we no longer get preferential treatment like Japan gone are the days of Special UK editions .

And I too prefer Britney post 04 there is more depth and greater quality just a shame she is allowed so little control. Also what I just said does not refer to BJ which was and still is pants.

I know! Oops I Did It Again had a special UK edition and that's version of the album I have. It has all the bonus tracks. My copy of Britney (the album with Slave 4 U) is also a special edition. It has When I Found You and Before The Goodbye but Before The Goodbye is not listed on the back of the CD. It came up when I copied the album into my iTunes My copy of In The Zone has The Answer and a remix of Me Against The Music as a bonus track, but I managed to download Don't Hang Up (another bonus track) from elsewhere. Don't worry, I didn't go to sites IT Law lecturers don't approve of!

Yeah all those were the standard editions here in the UK though DHU was included and BTG was listed. I wish we had more instances like that but the deluxe has usurped it and now only Asia get bonus tracks .

you know...love it or hate it....i do get really confused about how Britney Jean performed...i mean Stateside i thought she would have sold more being Winter/Xmas time PLUS she is always a bigger name there too with respectable or fantastic debut week sales...but those sales were so low...i mean before when a single hasnt charted highly Britney still managed to sell well first week with an album.

Also Work B!tch reached number 7 here in the UK...a decent debut for a single with minimal promo/backup but the album was not reinforced by that despite a decent debut single position...again very confused by that too....expected around the 20k/30k mark really i was surprised but hey

I do still love the album while YEAH i do wish that Britney Jean had more Orbit productions and Naughty Boy/Danja/Blood Orange productions there as it all sounded very dark/brooding/conceptual and had a running theme...but all that looked like it was scrapped last minute with will.i.am there....shame really as i reckon it could have been another high point but alas.

My copy of In The Zone doesn't have Don't Hang Up on it. I bought it in Germany though so maybe they sold different versions over in Europe, I don't really know. My copy of Britney (Slave 4 U album) doesn't list Before The Goodbye but it came up when I imported it into my iTunes. I'll take a pic of the back of the CD cover when I get home. Strange! Don't think any of my other Britney albums had hidden or unknown bonus tracks.

Yes there were differing versions released there are 3 bonus tracks to be found on Britney for instance:

I Run Away (Spanish Cd and some special editions B-side to INAGNAW)
BTG
When I found you

And Baby One More Time has one extra track on the international Deep in my Heart and I'll Still Love You and Autumn Goodbye on The Japanese then the rest you know about Scary etc .

My copy has Before The Goodbye and When I Found You as bonus tracks, but as I said BTG wasn't listed on the back of the CD case. I must take a pic of it. I did download I Run Away though. It's a really nice song. My copy of BOMT has Deep In My Heart and I Will Still Love You, but it doesn't have Autumn Goodbye. I did manage to download it from elsewhere though I do indeed

I meant I'll never stop loving you And I love all the bonus tracks a few were b-sides which I had on cassette back in the day which I lost but replaced when I got the singles boxset.

Also I love all these different covers of ...BOMT album http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/6...etimealbum.jpg .

Ah right Yeah I managed to download that song from elsewhere as well I don't think it was from somewhere IT Law lecturers would approve of but at least I have it I remember most of Britney's singles having B-sides until the ITZ era, although Someday (I Will Understand) and Break The Ice had B-sides (Mona Lisa and Everybody respectively). I'd love to get the singles boxset but I don't know if you can still get it. I never bought any CD singles of Britney as it was cheaper just to buy the albums. TBH I always found CD singles expensive. I mean £3.99 for 2 or 3 songs and maybe a video in the pre-YT era did seem pretty expensive.

It was just collecting for me and Sometimes pocket money or family generosity would not stretch to an album save for B'days and other special events . And I think you can still get the SBS but it's like extortionate now lucky I got it when I did .

Ah right. Yeah albums used to be really expensive back in the day. I can't remember what I paid for my Britney albums back in the day but I don't think they were cheap. I might have a look for it I've seen photos of Britney fans' collections and they look really good. Mine is pathetic in comparison

Cd's were about £12.99-£15 and tapers were about £10 or less . And mine isn't too bad I still have my Oops, slave and gimmer more cd singles aswell as all the albums and boxset :0.

Also I had BOMT album 4 times once on tape sadly lost twice on Cd one a replacement and accidently DL it too .
cnbcwatcher
08-04-2014
Exactly. I didn't buy a lot of music back then because of CDs being so expensive. I just remembered I have Overprotected (the single) on tape. I've got the first five Britney albums on CD and I downloaded Circus, Femme Fatale and Britney Jean from iTunes. Have you got the greatest hits or remix albums or just the studio albums and singles boxset? I hope you accidentally downloaded BOMT from somewhere IT Law lecturers approve of

I remember my Mum buying me the "Slave..." single. It's the only CD single of Britney's that I have. I downloaded "Hold It Against Me".

I still haven't bought Britney Jean. I've really tried to like it, but I just can't.

I have neither GH's I don't see the point and as for Remix albums I never listen to them save for a few good tracks though I do love And Then We Kiss on Vol.1.

I DL HIAM and 3 Mimi but the others I had on tape and have lost but from Oops onwards I got the first single usually then the albums save for ITZ.

And listening to blackout now shows up just how weak BJ was and is Mimi I'm with you save for a very few tracks it is not a good album.

I didn't bother buying either of the GH albums but I downloaded the three songs from My Prerogative I didn't have. Don't worry, I bought them from iTunes so all legal I actually have the original version of And Then We Kiss which was never released. The remixed version isn't the original. I think it was originally intended for In The Zone but didn't make the album. I downloaded Hold It Against Me, Womanizer, Till The World Ends, Ooh La La (as that was a soundtrack song), Someday (I Will Understand) and 3 but I always got the rest of the singles on their respective albums.

I bought Britney Jean because I like to have everything Britney anyway but it isn't her best album. I like some of the songs on it (especially Work Bitch ) but the rest is just meh. I was really disappointed by it. Some of her unreleased songs are better. At the moment I'm listening to an unreleased song called Dangerous which is either a Circus or Femme Fatale reject. It's really catchy Blackout is still my favourite album and it always will be. The one with Slave 4 U is also a favourite of mine at the moment for obvious reasons

I like both versions of ATWK it's a shame it was left off ITZ or simply not released as a stand alone like Ooh La La but oh well.

Yeah Britney Jean is just a weird album after the brilliance of Femme Fatale which closed the trilogy from Blackout, Circus and then itself we got a really weak album that was just meh. Femme Fatale was always going to be hard to follow as it was a perfect summary and follow up to her last two album and a perfect jumping off point to move forward. Britney Jean is just weak.

Yeah I think And Then We Kiss should have been released as a standalone single like Someday was. Wasn't Someday originally written for the scrapped Original Doll? I have my sources for these unreleased songs I get the feeling Britney Jean was rush-released so she would have new material to perform in Vegas. I love Work Bitch for obvious reasons () but I think that should have been a standalone single for Vegas instead of being the lead single from Britney Jean. I don't think will.i.am should have produced it either. He made a mess of it to be honest.
Hav_mor91

I'm not sure about Someday, Mona Lisa it's be side was the lead before it all got mysteriously scrapped and has since been deleted . As for Britney Jean it's just a weak version of her last three albums with few stand outs and material that ironically didn't for the most part make it to Vegas.
cnbcwatcher
09-04-2014
I don't know either. I just assume it was written for Original Doll but it could have been a standalone single as well. There were rumours that Do Somethin' was originally for the album. A couple of songs confirmed to have been for OD have leaked. I think Ouch, Money Love Happiness, a snippet of a song called Peep Show and I can't remember what others have leaked. Rebellion might have been for it as well (although some say that was supposed to be on Blackout) but the full version was never released and there's a lot of mystery surrounding the song. Some believe it has Illuminati connections In fact the whole Original Doll thing is a mystery. I find it really fascinating. I think only about two or three songs from Britney Jean were performed in Vegas. The rest were all older songs and her hits.

BJ is ok, but I find the songs don't have much playability, I got bored of them very quickly compared to her previous albums which I've played hundreds upon hundreds of times.
I think Alien should be a single, it's quite a vanilla song and with a really cool, edgy video could do well in the charts I think.
As for different album versions I recently bought the Japanese versions of Blackout, Circus, FF and BJ so I could get all the bonus tracks.
As for my copies of the first four, my BOMT is the standard 12 track with that Backstreet Boys ending, my Oops has 15 tracks, it says "UK special edition" on the front, last track is "Dear Diary". My copy of Britney has 14 tracks, the last one being "What It's Like To Be Me", and my ITZ has 15 tracks, the last being "Don't Hang Up".
I got both greatest hits because Brit is my favourite artist and I'm a sucker for anything she releases lol.

Yeah I find that you play them a few times and then get sick of them. It already sounds a little dated. Work Bitch is great though Alien should have been the second single instead of Perfume. That song has to be one of my least favourite Britney ballads. Has the Japanese version of Britney Jean got any extra songs worth having? What do you mean by the Backstreet Boys ending on BOMT (the album)?

Interesting. My copy of BOMT is the 12 track version, my Oops is the 15 track Special UK Edition, my Britney (Slave 4 U album as I refer to it) has 14 songs with Before The Goodbye as a hidden track (or maybe they forgot to refer to it on the back cover of the CD), my ITZ is the 14 track one with The Answer, my Blackout is the standard 12 track one and my Circus, FF and Britney Jean are all the deluxe editions from iTunes. I managed to download all the bonus tracks I didn't have from elsewhere I also have loads of unreleased songs. I don't have the GH albums, I just downloaded the songs I didn't have on them.
