Been listening to BJ this week, it has it's flaws but I love the concept of loneliness and restrictiveness that the album portrays, in that sense it is quite personal because Britney knows what it means to be alone, I can really relate to that actually.

The album is awful I'm sorry it just is. There were moments with which had it been expanded upon could have equated brilliance i.e Alien. The issue was it was taken in the direction of cheap dance filler and for me the whole project feels lacklustre and hollow.

Interesting. While BJ is not my favourite Britney album there is definitely a story behind it if you dig deeper. In fact you could say the same about most of Britney's albums. I'll explain more later

BJ - i adore alien, passenger, work bitch, perfume and now that i found you
but the rest are just fillers or mediocre or below par ...

Pele I'm with you all the way just a below average album .

The music is not up to par but the lyrics are what really strike a chord with me, they are personal in that they tell a story of Britney and her loneliness, right from the first song, then it's got her being isolated and being told to work and that dancing was her only escape etc, when you look deeper into the lyrics and equate them with Britney's life the album is put into context.

Still no Adz. I get what your saying I do but I think the finished product unravels most of the potential the record racked up. Alien and perfume are really the only moments which strike a chord and really embody that idea of loneliness. and had she followed that with similarly good quality songs it would have been a great record but alas.

I respectively disagree.

It's definitely one of her worst. I was all hyped up for Blackout 2.0 and Feed The Wolves I still think Blackout and In The Zone are her masterpiece albums. Anyway I was thinking earlier about the concepts of Britney's albums and this is what I came up with:

Baby One More Time -> sweet, innocent, about teenage love and that kind of stuff
Oops I Did It Again -> still a sense of innocence but slightly edgier and a sign she is growing up
Britney -> her "no longer a little girl" moment and her first more "adult" album. Songs like I'm A Slave 4 U and I'm Not A Girl prove this. Personal in places.
In The Zone -> her "sexy" album
Blackout -> about blacking out the negative and going out and having a good time
Circus -> a continuation of Blackout in parts, but I always said the album had a very "circusy" theme
Femme Fatale -> About having fun, could be considered the "fun" sequel to Blackout
Britney Jean -> not a great album but one could say it's about loneliness and restrictiveness

Original Doll would have been a very raw, personal "tell-all" album.

What do you guys think?

while i wish we had "Feed The Wolves" as heavily rumoured and speculated last summer...

with Orbit, Naughty Boy, Blood Orange, Charli XCX heavy produced/co-written sonvs with Britney instead of what we got.

Britney Jean showcases elements of greatness at what "could have been" it is a great all round Pop album IMO...regardless of what people say.

I adore - ALien, Work B!tch, Perfume, Passenger, Body Ache, Til Its gone, Dont Cry, Hold On Tight, Now That I Found You...to me it shows how Britney aches/years and feels isolated in her company....i can tell that from the images in the album....all she deeply wants is her own comfort...and i feel she really dug deep initially...but i feel with Will.i.ams inclusion it kinda got glased over so we only got a fraction of where we could have been.

I understand why perhaps people dont like the album...i mean i am not keen on her duets on the album tbh...bu the rest is gold IMO just a shame Vegas has taken all the time up really as she is capable of so so much more...but alas.

But yeah overall in 7 months of having the album Britney Jean for me is a 8/10 great all round album...showcasing vulnerability, isolation and lonliness with a shake up of EDM/Electronica/Trippy/Ravey rhythms and beats with odes back to her Dance Pop roots and inclusion of some of her most beautiful vocal work in quite the long while

I think britney wanted the theme of britney jean to be loneliness and to be her most personal album n u can hear that through alien n perfume my view is the record label didn't want her to go down that route so brought will.i.am in to mess with the album hoping hes wacky ideas as to why he is successful would carry the album through while britney is in vegas

To be hnest i was shocked at how LOW BJs sales were in AMerica that opening week! Like...wow...she is "loved" over there in a massive way....and in December it really didnt make sense to me...just over 100,000! that is crazy!

So it just showed really PROMO is key, quality material is KEY and an artist sure of themselves is also KEY....plus i think Vegas got the higher billing rather than the album...heck Work B!tch video felt like an advert for the Vegas shows :-/ as opposed to the album...and Perfume got unfairly snubbed which meant Britney Jean had no hope! Such a shame really just handled so messily...ah well.

^ I get the feeling that Britney Jean was just meant to be a buzz album for her Vegas shows and an album "for the fans" but how many of the fans actually like the album? I think WB was just a buzz single really.

Excited! I recently started to collect Britney singles and last week I found a great deal on ebay, 17 singles for £29.99 so of course I jumped on it! They just came today and whilst some of the cases have a little wear and tear the actual contents like inserts and CD's themselves are in great condition, so happy! : )

Wow that is fantastic I've started collecting Britney singles now as well. I've only got Overprotected (on tape - mum bought it for me way back in 2002!) and Baby One More Time so far. I've been searching second hand shops for them. The cases of my Britney CDs are in good condition apart from my copy of "Britney" which has a crack on the front cover from where I sat on it Did you ever solve the mystery of why Before The Goodbye wasn't listed on the album cover but it was on the CD? I've got a nice little Britney collection already. I've got:

The albums (first 5 on CD, bought Circus, FF and BJ from iTunes, don't have remix or GH albums)
Live and More DVD
Femme Fatale Tour DVD
Overprotected cassette
Baby One More Time CD single
Oops I Did It Again singing doll
Britney: Inside the Dream book
Unofficial sticker book (with stickers)
Unofficial postcard book
Britney Spears' Crossroads Diary
Unofficial biography from 1999
Britney: Pop Princess book (from 2013)
Circus Fantasy perfume
Island Fantasy perfume
Diary with key
2003 calendar (this was thrown away though )
Posters that came with albums
Random newspaper/magazine cuttings

I'm also thinking of making a scrapbook about Britney. Nice little lot, huh?

Haha true! I might take a photo of it sometime. I use the perfumes. Circus Fantasy is nice and it actually keeps one of my lecturers away from me! I had it on a lecture one morning and she wouldn't come near me I don't think she's a Britney fan. She comes across as posh and probably thinks she's above pop culture. I think she smelled my perfume and walked away You still have a decent collection though! Want to take a photo of it? A Britney shrine sounds cool.

I think I will take a photo of it soon actually. I'll post it on here when I have.

That would be great Adz. I'd love to see it! What would you do for a Britney shrine? I might make one as well. I should have made one months ago but better late than never, huh?
AdzPower
18-06-2014
Well for me personally I think I would have my FF tour poster on the wall right behind it and above it, and then maybe have all the CD's scattered around the shrine with maybe her perfumes (still need to get those haha) surrounding them.
It's difficult to imagine without knowing exactly how much space I'd have and what kind of surface I'd be using. What kind of ideas were you thinking of?
cnbcwatcher
18-06-2014
Your shrine sounds really good! I was thinking of having several photos of her on a noticeboard or something and then maybe her CDs around it and maybe a banner saying something like "The Legendary Miss Britney Spears." I even have the Britney album and single fonts! I downloaded them a couple of months ago Would you use her perfumes if you bought them or just put them on the shrine?
AdzPower
18-06-2014
I'm not sure if I would use them tbh, I'm a guy lol so I don't really wear perfume but they would be nice to add to the shrine, they would look pretty I guess.
Your banner sounds really cool, I might do one that says "It's Britney Bitch"" just under the poster haha I think that would look interesting.
cnbcwatcher
18-06-2014
Ah right I'm a girl so I use them. They also have other uses for me. I use them to keep lecturers away from me I know one of them hates the smell of the Circus Fantasy perfume. I'm going to make the banner when I have a free moment Yours sounds good! How would one go about making such a banner?
AdzPower
19-06-2014
Oh gosh I haven't the faintest idea, I guess you could do it by hand if you're good at arts and craft but otherwise I would suggest printing out the letters and them maybe sticking them onto a long piece of paper or card. Thinking about it I'm not even sure what kind of material someone would use lol.
