I also think Holly Valance and Brendan Cole? Anton and Edwina Currie? She won't last long.

Is anybody else rather excited?

I know we knew them all, I know it was rather cheesy (and I've learnt today that The One Show is as dull as anything.), but knowing them all know kind of seals the start of this years series for me.

Me! I'm off ill with a chest infection just now so this has cheered me right up

Hoping Jason, Harry (without wishing to sound like an old pervert, can I just say "phwooaaarrr"?!), Holly and Alex will be good but will be very happy to see Russell dumped out first. Can't imagine he'll have much in the way of smooth dance moves and I'm afraid I find him to be pretty odious

OMG, could that programme have been any more boring? But I am rather excited, too, FR! Roll on Saturday!

Thanks - bloomin' germs!

I can't wait for Strictly to properly start now. It kind of eases me into winter every year and makes the extremely short days we have up here just a bit more bearable!

This is really not a star studded lineup by any means rather more a case of making do.

The fact that the lineup has been cut from 16 to 14 to 12 within a couple of years says it all. The BBC have buckled to pressure from the government over its spending even to the extent that they've dumbed down its most popular entertainment reality show.

When was the last time anyone saw Russell Grant on tv? Anita Dobson will always be known for the late 80s and Enders. Lulu it's hardly a coup to get a former singer from years back. D'Lellio isn't even with Eriksson anymore she's hardly a wag. Dan Lobb is practically a nobody a fill in presenter on Daybreak usually doing the sport. Audley Harrison? Oh dear surely Frank Bruno in panto costume would have been better!

Besides Holly Valance, Harry Judd and maybe just about Jason Donovan this year will be the biggest anti-climax of a series in strictly history. Very poor line up from the BBC the X Factor will be laughing and even more so given the lack of Cole, Cowell and Minogue.

It hasn't been cut down to 12 - there are 14 celebs this year.

Lulu and Jason are big names and essentially A List if you put it into the context of Strictly and its past contestents.

Even with Chelsea Healey and Robbie Savage this isn't an a list. Before SCD had Peter Schmeichel and John Barnes now Robbie Savage? Seargeant, Widdecombe and Edwina? She's been out of public life for 14 years and simply won't attract the same attention as the first two. Peter Mandelson or Prescott would surely have been far better choices.

Lulu isn't a household name in the new century and how many top hits has even Jason Donovan had in recent years?

It would have surely made more sense to have had Rochelle Wiseman from The Saturdays given that she had Harry competed against each other in Children in Need last year on charity SCD rather than the has been Lulu.

Alex Jones announcing live on tv that she will be on SCD with last year's runner up co presenting a magazine show oh dear! There was just no need to announce it on the One Show anyway I don't know who made that decision but it was a very bad one. We really didn't need to see Len Goodman grinning from ear to ear tonight.

The BBC just won't pay top money anymore which is written all over this lineup. It is the most desperate lineup in SCD history.

In all honesty - I think the season 1 line-up was worse.

John Prescott would have done it apparently but he was busy this year.

I think they are hoping to get him on next year.

Lord Mandleson seems to love the show

Yet I think he does not have the guts to do it.

And Richard Madeley was meant to do it last year but pulled out at the last minute - so we had Matt Baker instead.

Thank goodness for that.

Imagine Widde and Madeley plus Daniels.

*Shudders*.

Even if that were true in its enteriety season 1 was an experimental show with only 8 contestants. It's just not comparable seven years on. Every year there are a couple of lesser names but this year most of the lineup are B list at best.

Well B list is better than Z list.

As you can clearly see on CBB.

I still think some people are completely unrealistic and expect it to be an A List line up consisting of Brad Pitt, Madonna, David Beckham etc.

No A list is better than B list. Adrian Chiles would surely have been a better choice than Dan who? Abigail Clancy rather than Sven's ex and someone modern rather than Lulu. Robbie Savage makes it onto Five Live but never MOTD or Football Focus there is a reason for that.

You know how bad it is when there at least 7 names who shouldn't be there.

Maybe the producers should throw Anton a bone and give him Alex. She doesn't seem like the type to be a good Latin dancer, and she might do well at ballroom with a good partner.

You can slag off the celebrities but leave Len alone.

Agree,

I would have liked to have seen Abby and Adrian.

Next year I hope they will be on it. Along with John Prescott who is a Legend.

Just watch the first episode and I am sure you will enjoy it.

I mean Series 7 was clearly the worst. Where I know 5 out of the 16. So believe me I know how it feels. But I still liked it.

I think if the One Show was a little under-whelming today it was probably because this year's line-up was the worst kept secret ever. Imagine having to go through the big reveal live, when you know that pretty much anyone who wants to know, knows already ?

There's got to be a better way of doing this, so that the news truly doesn't leak out beforehand.

I was a bit under whelmed by that reveal show.

Len Goodman getting all excited ..... well he would wouldn't he, he's never been paid so much in his life for doing anything. This programme has made his name and got him the DWTS job!

After seeing the celebs, well they are not really a bunch who anyone is really interested in, and it is turning into a 'rejuvenate or promote your career' type of show.

Why didn't they go the whole hog and get Angla Rippon and Jenny Bond in on it too.
