In time maybe you can discuss it with the vet as I agree it is a little odd?

Maybe Gloworm had some sort of condition? Or maybe he just fell awkwardly but the fact is it happened and nothing could have changed or prevented it, so please do not go down the route of self blame - it will just make grieving harder?

I hope you can take comfort that Gloworm was at home, in familiar surroundings and with you when it happened - I am sure he will be glad of that! BUT there was nothing you could have done differently. Kittens climb darling, this was not your fault

I feel for you, I really do. It is so tough losing a pet, but losing them so suddenly and tragically must make it feel even worse.

Please take care of yourself and your other kitty and your daughter - settle down tonight and have a nice cuddle all of you together

xxxxxxx

I lost my little feral kitten Harry about a month ago. We had him only 3 wks he was about the same age. I felt guilty that i couldnt do anything too save him as well. I go on many forums pet ones and a couple of months ago the same thing that happened too Glowworm happened too her kitten exactly the same age as well. Never beat yourself up about it. Accidents do happen. You gave him lots of love in the short time you had him than any loving owner could.

Oh Bella, how very very sad

Your kitten looks just like our Simba, who's only 12 weeks old and is often leaping onto and off his scratchposts (he has 2).

You've got me worried now

I'm never buying a scratching post with the ledge/box on top ever again I'm waiting on the results of the PM which should clear up whether my baby had anything wrong with him that made him fall as the scratching post isn't a big one and I honestly don't understand how it could have caused so much damage, he went in to be treated for shock, then they ring me telling me he has severe swelling and taken a turn for the worst, I can't cope without him

It must have been some sort of freak accident. Cats are normally good at 'falling'. When my Tabitha fell from a TV when she was 12 weeks old the TV was at quite a height and she had nothing to grip onto as she slipped. She landed really awkwardly and was in so much pain, it was horrible I rushed her to the vet - she had fractured a leg but I am so relieved and thankful now that I had nearly 16 years with her, I suppose she too might have sustained a much worse injury

It's truly heartbreaking.

Sorry I edited my post to read leaping not sleeping, wrong word.

Little Simba is often falling and getting into small spaces where he shouldn't be. I'm always worried but my husband is more relaxed than me and said he'll be fine.

I think thats what is making me struggle with all of this the most, the fact that cats normally land on their feet, I just want to know what happened but at the same time, want to forget any of this ever happened, listening to his brother Salem crying, and listening to my daughter tell me we have taken Gloworm away from her is killing me
