I think she'll take it more seriously than Ann and actually try and learn the dances instead of dictating what she wants them to be. I doubt she expects to go all the way though. I agree with the poster who said she'll probably be another Gloria Hunnicut or Esther Rantzen - I wouldn't imagine she'll be another Pamela Stephenson.

I'd say more an Esther Rancid.
They both like to be the centre of attention when anywhere near a TV camera.

I guess people are making the association of older + ex-politician = expected repeat of Widdy, but it looks to me like Russell Grant is expected to fill the 'loveable joker' space.

She might not be at her fittest at the moment though:

I find Edwina Currie a whole lot more likeable than Widdy.
She's also vey feisty- she threw a glass of water over John McRirrick in Wife Swap and during Hells Kitchen she gave Gordon Ramsay as good as she got. I can't remember whether it was Edwina or Amanda Barrie who slapped him?

That's how I see her too - maybe a little bit better than them, but that sort of level. Hope her ankle holds up. She's not a 'joke' contestant like AW.

Agreed. Although for all Widdecombe's faults - and God only knows they were many and varied - at least she didn't, ummm, do the horizontal tango with John Major.
Christ, there's an image I now wish I could remove from my mind.

I wish people would stop mentioning that unless they're handing out copious supplies of brain bleach at the same time!

I think she might be a bit like Christine Hamilton when she was on Celebrity Masterchef - and against every fibre of my being I actually liked her and grumped when she didn't win
