Fair enough.
Then you're wrong. I don't have an opinion on her. I don't know much about her. I'm sure I will develop such an opinon, but at the moment I'm neutral. Who knows, I may well start to like the woman, stranger things have happened. I'm simply trying to find out why others do have such a positive opinion on her. It beats work. Maybe if someone would, you know, actually answer the "what has she done?" question with something tangible... Quote:
she donates her old clothes to rumanian sheep. The ones that dress up as lambs, obviously.
![]() Maybe I'm being cynical but seems to me that she's the type of person who'll only do 'charity work' when there's a camera around

Don't ask me why but I don't like her and am irritated with her inclusion already! If feel bad about that but hey, lots of folks feel the same.
I think its mean (but clever) of BBC to put her with Anton (if that is true) because they know the public love him and she has a chance of lasting longer. |

I don't get the Nancy love either or what she's done in her own right to merit being called a 'celebrity'! She just seems one of these flamboyant, arrogant characters that has ridden on the success of others
![]() But the typical SCD contestants, historically, have been people who've achieved something (athletes, politicians) or at least people who have, you know, a profession (actors, comedians, TV presenters) which occasionally requires some level of talent. Having someone one the show, because they've shagged one or more famous people, seems a lttle bit of a retrograde step. That said, she seems devious, manipulative and shameless, so I like her a lot. Actually, that's pretty much the definition of "celebrity" ...

Actually I kind of assume most celeb charity work we hear about is done on that basis. The whole "Princess Diana visiting sick children in a secret night-time visit which just happens to be caught by the tabloids" approach. It's not new for SCD producers - they've had Penny Lancaster and Jo Wood on. Now with Nancy they're following in the footsteps of 'Celebrity' Big Brother and I'm a Celebrity in hiring 'celebrities' that will get them tabloid headlines! I wouldn't be surprised if Imogen Thomas or Katie Price take part in SCD one day ![]() I don't mind 'celebrities' that use their fame to promote important causes - I like the ones that use their fame and then do lots of stuff privately to help the charities it's just the ones that exaggerate what they do for charity and only do it for publicity that I don't like!

She's an intelligent lady, very successful, dedicated to her charity work and rather charming I think. Yet for some reason, she seems universally unpopular.
Nancy's my underdog this year, and I hope viewers are open-minded about her. I don't rate her chances though as foreign contestants haven't really fared well with the voters (I'm not implying xenophobia here by the way, but a lack of existing fans to rely on!). I am not on your Nancy team I am afraid (although she is much preferable to Lulu) but wanted to give you smooches! If she is your underdog then who is your main man/ woman?? I am behind this year on the threads due to a very recent bereavement but am intending to divert myself with much strictly arguing/ debate/ humour/ smooches! |

Hi FF {{{HUGS}}} Sorry to hear that. Hopefully being on here will give you a bit of a boost - or maybe not - this is DS! Quote:
My husband is still in shock. When she first came on the scene he swore she was a man in drag. I'm looking forward to seeing her on the show, she's as mad as a box of frogs... does anyone else remember the Paxman interview?
I think a lot of people will be surprised at how glamorous, but normal Nancy looks in her SDC frocks, instead of her usual outlandish style (a touch drag queenish? ) - although the media do delight in showing her in a very unflattering light!Quote:
Sid, Buddy, SCD and everyone else - here's looking forward to SCD 9 (?)
xxx Sid - how dare you start without me. ![]() I don't think I'll be a Nancy fan but who can tell. Charity works - what happened here? So looking forward to the show! ![]() Who ever Nancy is paired with she is happy with them! She was on Loose Women yesterday and didn't give any clues, expect to say she was happy with her pro - and looked a little smug/coy (in a good way!) - mind you I can't think of any of the male pros a celeb wouldn't be happy with! ![]() If anyone wants to see the interview it is here at about 19 minutes in - and she looks amazing! ![]() She said the celebs were working with the designers at the moment on their costumes, so I expect her to have a lot of input in hers! Mad as a bag of frogs sounds about right!

Also I don't get as mad at the judges that way!!! ![]() I am bizarrley intrigued as to what Rory will be like- I want to see if he can be himself.... ![]() ![]() Am looking forward to some sparkly distraction (and Merlin always starts around Strictly time and I love me a bit of Arthur!! )I love it when we are all back- sequins at the ready! |

When Rory and Anita were on Breakfast this morning (the link is on here somewhere) you couldn't shut him up - he is really into the whole thing (bit competitive too I reckon). They were both clearly overwhelmed by it all so far, but loving every bit! It sounds like he's going to be pals with Robbie who apparently is a bag of nerves! Anita was lovely and I think she said something like it felt like she was in Hollywood the night of the launch when they were outside with all the fans!
