I am disappointed by this years line up as there are hardly any young celebs! I enjoy watching the young guys the best as they are usually the better dancers. There are like 3 young celebs!

The average age must be about 50!!!

It is very similar to last year, and last year was a WONDERFUL series!

I'm glad there are more older people this year. I think it will make the show more interesting and a lot better.

When it comes to diversity box-ticking, generally the BBC seems to pay more attention to age now. For obvious reasons.

I don't really have a problem with it. Anything to dilute the dubious preoccupation with 'race'.

Looking at the line up, I think that we can all agree that there will not be anyone as bad as Ann Widdicombe, so that is something to be thankful for!

Hmmmm, it's interesting how one's perception of these people, even though they are well known to most, can be different from the reality. I'm looking forward to finding out more about them - Strictly has a habit of stripping away the layers through training - in fact all dance does that - until you get to the real person ! Will be an interesting.... am I allowed to say the 'j' word ? Or is it just toooooo early ??

Is 30 classed as old now? That's a bit daft as a few winners have been in their 30s & one of the finalists last year was over 60 (and she got there on merit)

I think it's a good mix of ages. I'd hate to see a show dominated by 20 somethings as much as I would one by 60 somethings.

I like seeing a good mix of ages. ..makes it far more interesting. Much as I disliked Pamela she was most certainly a much better dancer than many of the younger celebs and showed real progress over the weeks. In the end, technique in dancing will win out

No there are 7 women - Chelsee, Holly, Alex, Nancy, Anita, Lulu and Edwina.

Have to confess, I thought Holly was in her 30s because she's been around for so long, and I thought Harry was a couple of years older than he is as Mcfly have been around for a while too.

Age is only a number anyway. Who wasn't shocked to realise that Felicity Kendal was a year older than Anne Widdecombe, or that the fantastically watchable (well mostly) Pamela Stephenson was 61?

Of the 50-pluses (all the rest are mere whippersnappers, Jason included ), I'd say that Lulu and Anita in particular will come across as much younger than their recorded ages. Rory and Russell always seem fairly light-hearted too (if not light-footed in Russell's case).

Curmudgeons don't prosper on SCD so I imagine we'll soon be rid of Edwina and Nancy, hurrah

You're preaching to the converted! I'm happy with the line up - was just replying to the OP. Age doesn't matter, but fitness does and judging by the video on BBC Breakfast, everybody looked fine to me!

Best line up since Series 5 I'd say!
