More often than not when i press guide the machine takes AGES to load the information which means I can't even hear the prog that I am watching and nor can i press to record anything until the info has been received. Aometime this can take several minutes to load
Does anyone know if there is a way to stop this?

Also is there a settting somewhere so that when I go into the guide I can have a thumbnail picture of the prog I am watching?

Thanks

Depending on your point of view this is either a really useful design feature ensuring you always get the most up to date EPG info or a really irritating bug in the software.

The workaround (or designed alternative) is to press 'schedule' then 'red'.

To answer your other question there's no alternative to the picture appearing in the background behind the epg. You can change the transparency of the epg to make it more visible.

Or solve both problems by pressing Pause before Pressing EPG. That way you get taken to the cached EPG instantly and you do not get to miss any of the programme you are watching.

I've noticed this is a problem only recently. You used to be able to get the programmes you wanted on the Planner almost instantaneously but now the programme information takes AGES to load.

Anyway, I'm glad I've spotted this thread. I thought there might be a problem with my Freesat+ box but now I realise it's probably a glitch, hopefully temporary.

Its not a glitch, its a permanent "feature", they thought it would be better like that.

If ages is > 40-42 secs then you need to do a freesat retune - however it is NOT necessary to save the results.

I have seen some posts that indicate the problem this change was brought in to resolve will be solved later this month.

How can they predict when it will be solved? Do they mean they have solved it and that full and rigorous regression testing will be completed later this month assuming it all goes swimmingly?

I assume thay mean what they say (no more or less) the origional thread is at another well known place that has audio video forums - I think posting a link to it is not allowed

Thanks all - and just for the record - "ages" is sometimes several minutes!!! Conversely it can load instantaneously
Will use schedule then red button in future if I get thsi problem

its instant if you are in timeshift, recording or do it while playing back.

I have to do a scan every couple of weeks in order to fix this, its another bug they refuse to fix.

I spoke to Humax yesterday about the issue of not being able to use the EPG to schedule recordings -- the 'Please wait whilst receiving programme information' pop-up thing. This is a known issue, apparently, and a fix is due shortly, whatever that means.

If I select the EPG but don't get an image of the channel behind the EPG that I was watching then the 'Please wait ...' message never clears (the pop-up box appears when selecting a programme for recording) and I can't use the EPG to schedule recordings. If a picture does appear behind the EPG after a short while, then I'm good to go.

I haven't tried the Schedule + Red button workaround yet.

Sigh

The picture behind the epg only appears wnen the epg data has fully loaded. Downloading the epg steals tuner 1 so it can't be used to view the current channel until the download is complete. Pressing schedule and red loads the cached epg so no tuner is required. If it takes significantly longer than 40 sec before you get the picture back, carry out a freesat tune but exit afterwards without saving the results

Start a recording on the channel you are watching (to tie up tuner 1), now press guide. You should then get an instant epg and be able to set recordings.

'Shortly' may be a while yet as Humax updates are released on timescales normally reserved for geology.
