I feel when any of us airs our negative views about what Big Brother has become we get jumped on, by admittedly a small number of posters, who tell us to "switch off" or say "well I'm enjoying it, the show's moved on...". Sorry, but I've watched Big Brother since the first episode of BB1 and if I want to complain about how C5 have ripped it's heart out I will. I consider myself a long term, real fan of the show and the reason I and others are so vocal about it is because we care about it and have invested a lot of our time in it over the years.

The crap that C5 have been broadcasting over the past three weeks is NOT the Big Brother I know and love. I'll try and go into BB12 with an open mind, and I may be proved wrong but it's not looking good I'm afraid, and it's nothing to do with L/F either, though it has played a part for most people. It just "feels" wrong, can't put my finger on it, but Jo Goode on BBC Radio London last night said the exact same thing and like us she's a long term diehard fan.

I'm now contemplating a life without Big Brother in it. Scary

Everybody has the right to state their opinion. When a FM makes a negative comment about the show, another FM can tell them to switch off or move on.

Why watch something you don't enjoy anymore?

Just say what you want about it i dont care about the minority on here that pretend they still like it they are just pretending nobody could like this steaming pile of plop that they are trying to roll out as big brother.
The show is dead to me now.

Everyone has the right to an opinion yes, but it does seem that those of us who are unhappy are jumped on and accused of being negative. Your enjoying, fair enough, but don't dismiss the views of others.

It's quite easy to see why it isn't Big Brother any more. The most obvious of several clear faults is that the housemates are not playing the Big Brother game - i.e. nominate in secret, wait to hear who's up, who's up announced, live with group consequences until eviction, eviction, reflect, repeat ... Every stage of this game plays on each individual's mind, on the group dymamics and on how the viewers see the contestants. Also, it obviously affects who goes out and who wins, and that does not come down to straight popularity or who has a fan club.

This Channel 5 series is just a not very interesting fly on the wall doc about 'celebrities' living in a house together. On only one occasion in this entire series did nominations and an eviction take place. On the 2 other occasions leading to an eviction it was done another way, IMO buggering up the game.

Almost all the HMs have survived to the final, there has been zero tension since Tara left the house and no game playing other than playing up straight to camera for popularity. The audience haven't been given one single complex choice on who to keep or evict, it's boring for us and more importantly we have lost our involvement in the series. It makes little difference who goes out first tonight and who last because they all made it to the final, they were all in the whole series, no one has despaired or got emotional about the finishing order.

Me too. I have written to C5 too. Won't be switching on to main BB. Fed up with biased editing, unrelated clips, cutting people out of conversations or just hearing people's voices - and ridiculous spin-off show. BB died last year. RIP BB.

Agreed.

I think I've said before- don't get mad at the player, get mad at the game.
If people are feeling negative then that's Ch5's fault, not ours.

I have enjoyed it as much as any other CBB. No need to have a big tantrum and claim that people who have enjoyed it are just pretending. CBB is never a particularly intense experience imo - it is much more like I'm a Celebrity than a full BB. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm not playing, and I'm taking my ball home so no one else can play either.

I do agree with duncann that the lack of nominations has been a serious flaw this time round. It has taken out an awful lot of the tension from it, and means that we have learned much less about what housemates are privately thinking. The thing where Pamela had to choose the evictees was disastrous imo: she just took the four she thought were least popular with the public which made it the dullest eviction possible.

I agree with all you've said. I don't understand why Five didn't just create their own reality show instead of buying the Big Brother format if they wanted to change the whole concept of it? I don't think Five are interested in the classic format, I think they'll ditch the normal BB after BB12 and just concentrate on the dire celeb version.

Haven't watched CBB at all this week, too boring and mundane. It's been so disappointing.

Hoping for better things when the new HM's arrive later this week.

Yep VD, I agree. (VD doesn't sound right! Voddy)

I think it's because we all had expectations (not that high, of Channel 5 resurrecting the format we love so the reality (or lack of!) is a huge disappointment.

They did pick it up and I've tried really hard to like it but this present incarnation is not for me.

Agree, Ch5 have ruined the show, dont know how they have the cheek to call it Big Brother , yeah like we the public are watching the housemates on camera as it happens, (please dont comment about the 15 min time lapse).Nope we are watching what they want to show us, not good enough Channel 5, i think they will lose a lot of viewers when the wannabes go in.

I used to love Big Brother, really fantastic show, not like any other, this thing being broadcast on Channel 5 is not Big Brother.
It's Desmond's toy now, he can do with it what he likes, as his lapdog Jeff Ford stated "It's not a social experiment show anymore, it's entertainment, Channel 5 is just fun, fun, fun and we could have done live feed but decided not to", they decided not to you see, they couldn't give a monkeys about what a lot of viewers want, it's now a club 18-30, media whore, fun fun fun, a cheap plastic rip off of what many of us once knew.

I totally agree with you, I have tried to give it a chance but it has been totally destroyed as Channel 5 have already said that it is now entertainment. Now isin't entertainment scripted? There is no mention of reality and Big Brother is or was a social experiment.

For those who are going to slate me then go ahead as I am allowed to voice my opinion as a member of this list. I have watched it from day 1 and yes I may switch off in the future as it is not Big Brother anymore, it seems as if Channel 5 have just bought the name.

I will give BB12 a try but if it is as bad as CBB is then I will not be watching for long...Shame that Big Brother has been modified so badly

In fairness, I don't think its been 'proper' big brother for years and years.

I liked it when it felt more like a social experiment. Put strangers in a house and watch how they interact and deal with the various emotions surrounding secret nominations etc.

For a long long time its morphed into a fame hungry circus.

That being said, I actually think C5 have done a decent(ish) job when compared to recent C4 series.

I really dont understand how C5 can copy cat C4 for a show that had lost viewers. They have to make changes and put their own spin.If they produced exactly the same show then why would C4 have axed it The old format wasnt working anymore that is why.The two channels have different audiences and production guidelines. It cant be magic science that the show cant be exactly the same. For refreshing a 10yr iconic show,a small channel has done very well and I have enjoyed CBB8.

Agree completely CBB on C4 had become dire.

Understandable, but what do you expect. This is on Five which has always been seen as:

1. A lesser channel then the main 5 by a massive margin
2. Owned by Desmond
3. Sex/Love driven (remember that naked gameshow?)

Absolutely 100% agree with Voddy.
This is not BB, it is dire and an insult to intelligence.
