Am I the only one who doesn't have a strong opinion on the contestants? |

Am I the only one waiting to see what they do? [/QUOTE]Nope, not the only one. I rarely feel very strongly about any contestant and not so at this early stage. I've said it before, but I really do just watch it for the dancing... oh, and the dresses (I'm a seamstress in my spare time )I may start warming to various people as the show goes on, but never felt strongly enough to vote for ANYONE. I find it kind of daft to get all worked up over someone I don't know, I'm never likely to know, and who has been edited to pieces with an agenda. |

Digressing slightly...
Each to their own, but the antics and the flashing teeth of this self-obssessed couple on the old "Come Dancing" programme always had me in stitches. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvmGURvK4Zs ![]() Donnie Burns and Gaynor are world famous dancers, if you search you will find a clip of Anton ( who was Tony Beke in those days) |

I can't muster the energy to have any strong feelings about any contestant, at the start of any series.
This can change to mildly irritated by some and slightly interested in the progress of others, towards the end of the series. The show is designed to present a varied cast of contestants. The inclusion of some which may bring a reaction from some viewers of, FFS! is quite deliberate. Controversy, is a required element as far as the producers are concerned. The object of the series is not to produce a "worthy winner," but to beat X-factor in the ratings. So we'll get the "popular plank" and the "comedy act" progressing at the expense of more able competitors, due somewhat to the bloody mindedness of some of the viewers and gaining media coverage which will have the BBC "suits" rubbing their hands with glee. This programme peaks in the "pantomime season" which seems appropriate. It's all good fun and shouldn't be taken seriously. Strictly started out as a serious dance competition and then changed to an entertainment show to compete with XFactor, the serious top professionals have been dropped ( Bennets, Cutlers and Ian Waite) in preference for others who will maybe be a bit more entertaining and controversial. Good Idea? Who knows only time will tell. I am reserving judgement on the pairings, there might be a surprise or two along the way.. |

Chris Parker made the first final over Lesley Garett - when was Strctly ever primarily a serious dance competition?
![]() It did start out however as a "dance" competition as opposed to a pure entertainment show. My dance teacher was the consultant to the BBC for that first show. |
