I noticed on Amazon that a couple of people have covered RFYL and are releasing the same week as Matt

Banging on about pre-orders again . Do we reckon that it is actually a very small amount of actual sales that are pre-ordered? Just because for all the hype that 1D had a massive amount of pre-sales for their single the final tally of singles sold wasnt as massive as I was expecting. I heard somewhere that they were expected to sell over 500k the first week .

I wonder if the Amazon Sparks thing is to do with what's going to be played live at the Scottish gigs - ie, isn't KOKO supposed to be the album launch (though don't understand how that works as it's not releasing till 17th). I dont think pre-orders really come in to it to be honest!...espically with singles..I think with albums there must be more pre-orders..
1d did very well and in no way Matt is getting the same amount of pre-orders.(for his single,,not sure re album)..there was a lot of Hype for 1d to be honest and good for them...
I check all these things like you do tilly on a regular basis. but we have no way of knowing how his single of album will fair ..we just have to keep our fingers crossed!,
,having said that there is a lot of interest in his album so that bodes well..RFYL is starting to get more airplay(I think this is a marketing thing to be honest)..1d have come and gone so Matt seems to becoming to the fore ..would not be surprised if news articles start to increase,,it seemed that way when cher was charting even though 1d had had first airplay
I am dibbing on here but would not be surprised to see cher second single coming soon..then becca"s first ..them 1d again and then Matt.. I dont think we will see a let up with the whole X factor acts from last year until christmas..I only care about Matt and want to hear his music

I wonder if the label are surprised that it wasn't more or that it is pretty much what they expected. I thought it would be more before it was released, due to the pre-sales talk. But when I read the pre-sales on iTunes were only 17,000, I mentally scaled back the volume. It's still the highest selling opening week for 2011, so that's nothing to be sniffed at. I would be very content if Matt got anywhere near that. I have thought about Matt's potential singles sales and something struck me. The only reason why I am buying the single at all, is because of the X F connection and the concern that if he doesn't get number 1 he will be crucified in certain areas of the media and also on the MF here. I haven't bought a single since I was a teenager, as I prefer to have the whole album. I love Jealousy by Will Young but I haven't bought the single as I would rather have the album. This is what I would have done for Matt too - and probably will when it comes to second albums. I am buying RFYL to ensure there is a second album.

same thoughts crabbie..ed sheerhan is doing very well on his album but I dont think he made no1..although his single tracks has probably out sold a lot of the previous no1..I think we are all agred Matt is an album artist ,,No1 seems to be the holy grail..but I would rather see a good track which stays in the charts for weeks than a flash in the pan no1..gosh Matt has such a tightrope to negioate

Yeah ed was no1 this week with sales of 105k but he was never no1 on amazon pre-orders so it's all academic. Noel gallagher will be huge competition for Matt in the albums. Still 4 weeks until it gets released. Tv appearances in the run up and hopefully a huge x factor performance could make a massive difference.

Who is going to Inverness also? I've lost track.

Congratulations also on keeping people informed about Matt's activities. One of my train buddies said this morning about how he'd gone off the radar and it takes so long to get an album out. Helpfully explained about the tour and that he'd co-written every track on the album which takes time. And told her when it was out. And told her I was going to see him on 3rd October. She probably thinks I'm completely loopy now but that's what Cardleitis does to you!!

I've just been checking through my pre-orders for Matt's album and single and .... they all seem to have vanished Some were limited edition but I ordered early and have had no murmur that they were out of stock. Feeling very cheesed off.

Just found my order for the signed cd. The others are definitely gone though
