Congrats,
buttercup! And glad to see we're back to our old selves, going-through-the-threads-wise

What I don't get is, she's had a mobile and the land line all this time, and a laptop, so why hasn't she tried to get in touch with someone who could help her escape before now? As awful as being kept prisoner in her own home must be, it's clearly a more appealing prospect than having to stand on her two feet and work to buy her own laptop

Ooh, did not know this. I should inform my mother, my sister's phone bills are ridiculous. But, still, a day or two is enough time to contact someone and get the hell out of Dodge. Seems silly that she's had a phone all this time and hasn't even tried to contact someone, given that the moment she heard Syed's name, she couldn't wait for her father to leave to try to contact him!

Oh, also, how is it a secret that Christian and Syed are engaged?

Let's see- Roxy, Tanya, Zainab, Masood, Tamwar, Afia, Yusef, Qadim and Amira now know. What's the harm in letting Kat and Alfie, or anyone else, know?
Alfie did make me laugh (genuinely, not in a omg-Michael's-shouting way) when he was going to announce it to the whole pub. Yes, I'm sure the pub's population would be very interested in the fact that two guys they've never met are engaged.
