Oh, and I assume it was his 40th birthday watch because I think it only appeared after his birthday, on the next Lottery show he did. Total guesswork!”

Like this
? I must admit I didn't notice in the ep!

Was anyone else getting flashbacks of DC week with Christian and Syed on the couch. Christian's so protective, so caring, so reassuring - doing whatever he can to ease Syed's fear, his guilt, to protect him.

I'm 'meh' about her, really. Her situation really is horrific, though. Proof if proof is needed why sham marriages are never, ever the right thing to do. Okay, it's exaggerated for soapy purposes, but the fundamentals are there- Amira being contaminated by her shame, when she is the 'innocent party in all this', is just unforgivable.

I really need to rewatch tonight! I wasn't enamoured with parts of it, but I did like it on the whole.

Maybe he was told that they would stay strong and united without being told about all the storylines?

but then there would be no point us discussing them splitting if that was true because they wouldnt be staying strong and united if they split

Yes, me I meant to say the other night that when they were discussing the phone call, it reminded me of the blackmail plot too

I think it's more common sense. They're the only gay couple in the show (well, until Duncan and Ben come along, but that's a different kettle of fish to a long-term, committed relationship) and Johnny must have known at that point they were getting engaged. There's no way EE's going to miss the CP opportunity, so Chryed are going to be 'strong and united' in the end, because they're hardly going to be a bad place before they get married.

Now more than ever I don't want Amira killed off.

She needs to get her happy ending.

I do think Amira would be unwise to reject the gifts, because she'd be made out to be ungrateful, and get a whole 'after everything I've done for you' speech. Also, there's nothing else in her life, at least laptops and phones give her something to do when the baby is 'out'- at nursery, or whatever.

And as for the living alone thing- she also has her baby to think of. Even if she hasn't bonded, she still wants the best for her, and while being with Qadim might make her miserable, he can provide for her daughter and make sure she grows up in security and wealth. What does Amira have to offer her? I'm sure this has been drummed into her, too. I'm sure she also feels massive guilt for not being overwhelmed by love for her, and feeling like she is defective in some way for being able to bonding, and I'm sure this has contributed to the whole 'damaged goods' feeling she has.”

I think it would be good to show that Amira hasn't bonded with her baby the way she 'should' have. It does happen in real life with mothers who are unable to feel that overwhelming love for their child, and are perceived as monsters by the media. It would be good to see EE address those issues, I think. Would be interesting if they went down the PND route too. The only downside is that Chryed will probably end up with the baby.

Haha, that is my very favourite bit in the whole 10 series. I laugh until I hurt every time I see it.

I think 'meh' is the right word to describe how I feel about her!! It is the situation I empathise with much more, like you say, that she is 'contaminated by her shame' is just so awful and should not be the case
I think bar the one bad line the Chryed talks are really good....and really should have been in the main show!! You can literally see the love between them .....and the head on shoulder, hand stroking, head touching, arm around each other are rather beautiful

This. I think he was given a rough outline and told the end position, but not given any details, until he saw the scripts. I remember larry lamb saying he knew the end game, just none of the details.

Omg, that would literally be the most depressing storyline for a character ever. First of all, her dad gets arrested, her friends and family all turn against her. She meets the 'man of her dreams', he turns out to be gay. She spends 18 months as a virtual prisoner, with a baby she never wanted and a psycho father. She returns to Albert Square, finds her husband in a committed relationship with another man, and realises they're never going to happen, crushing probably the only thing that's kept her going the past year. Then she dies. Makes Ronnie's storylines look positively cheerful- at least she had Jack!

But, nah, this'll never happen. Amira is virtually guaranteed a happy ending at this point.

Absolutely.

I hate to think of the guilt that Syed and Christian would both feel if something happened to Amira. I think it would destroy them separately, and maybe even impact on their relationship - that guilt would be horrible, as well as the grief of losing someone that they both cared about to some degree.

I'm waiting for the comments that Christian training Ben is responsible for him becoming gay

Is the baby who plays Kamil related to Amira's baby? They're identical.
