Is the baby who plays Kamil related to Amira's baby? They're identical.

Omg, that would literally be the most depressing storyline for a character ever. First of all, her dad gets arrested, her friends and family all turn against her. She meets the 'man of her dreams', he turns out to be gay. She spends 18 months as a virtual prisoner, with a baby she never wanted and a psycho father. She returns to Albert Square, finds her husband in a committed relationship with another man, and realises they're never going to happen. Then she dies. Makes Ronnie's storylines look positively cheerful- at least she had Jack!
But, nah, this'll never happen. Amira is virtually guaranteed a happy ending at this point. I want something positive to come out of this story for Amira, just like it has for Christian and Syed. I don't want her leaving the show a victim, or worse in a casket! If she does die, it will only make Christian and Syed look worse. I can't see Syed ever getting over the guilt either. I'd really love to see Amira stand up on her own two feet and stand up to her oppressive father. Hopefully she can find her strength and outright say, she is not damaged goods and has done nothing. She deserves a life and one day someone will love her - someone who loves her the way they should. It's important that all three characters are able to move on. I don't expect Amira to ever get over it but if the viewers can see she has a bright future, we'd know she'll be ok. Regardless of what's happened to her, she can come out. It would be lovely if Amira’s stint ended with her giving Chryed her blessing for their wedding. That would be poetic for all three of them and show how much the story has evolved.

Well, I think the gifts thing is the way that Qadim shows not only his love for her, but his control over her. Like "how could you possibly think I'm keeping you prisoner when I buy you expensive phones and laptops?" I do think Amira would be unwise to reject the gifts, because she'd be made out to be ungrateful, and get a whole 'after everything I've done for you' speech. Also, there's nothing else in her life, at least laptops and phones give her something to do when the baby is 'out'- at nursery, or whatever.
And as for the living alone thing- she also has her baby to think of. Even if she hasn't bonded, she still wants the best for her, and while being with Qadim might make her miserable, he can provide for her daughter and make sure she grows up in security and wealth. What does Amira have to offer her? I'm sure this has been drummed into her, too. I'm sure she also feels massive guilt for not being overwhelmed by love for her, and feeling like she is defective in some way for being able to bonding, and I'm sure this has contributed to the whole 'damaged goods' feeling she has. Really good points about the bonding and yes, she may well feel inadequate over that too. And economically, it would be very hard for someone like her to find her way to independance, you can't just wave a magic wand and transform your personality, her original persona was very much that of someone who just wanted someone to take care of her, and she has been raised like this too, to be fair to her, from a very early age. And we don't yet know about these 'spies' - although we've seen glimpses of anger, she does seem pretty frightened. ![]() Quote:
I understand what you are saying, but surely she must know that the baby would be better off away from her father (i mean Qadim),
I know someone who left and took her baby, even though she had little money, away from a father, she felt was a risk to her child. Better to be without money and away from Q horiible influence surely. |

Amira has been raised to believe she cannot stand on her own two feet- when this sort of upbringing is combined with the 'damaged goods' brainwashing, she's going to feel utterly incapable of ever being independent, as well as completely inadequate as a mother. She has never been independent, she has no concept of it. While Amira was a bit of a feminist's nightmare, she was like this at least partially because of her lack of mother figure and being raised by a cruel, cold man obsessed with the concepts of shame and pride. She was never made to feel like a person in her own right- the one time he was lovely to her (NYD) he was comparing her to her mother. |
