MeatLoaf
Hi,
I have never had meatloaf before but I have a strange craving for it. I know there is plenty of recipes on the web but going from past experiences they can be a bit hit and miss. Has anybody on DS cooked a meatloaf, can anybody recommend a recipe. thanks in advance g |

Ive only made it 3 times, each with a different recipe. The first time was awful. Totally inedible.
The second time I changed a couple of ingredients and it was nice. So much so that I made it again a week later. So, all in all, two out of three aint bad

I've made this quite a few times and always turned out great. Its from american chef alton brown.
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/a...ipe/index.html I just used breadcrumbs instead of the garlic croutons |

I've tried a few different ones but this one, also by an American chef is definitely the best one i've found.

there are hundreds of versions of Meatloaf in the US. One version (twist) I like is to (to your recipe) add some uncooked rice, and shape them into balls with a tomato sauce over it and bake. They can be called Porcupine balls.

It is just a giant meat ball though. I watch a couple of US food shows and they always have meat loaf on. It seems as though as long as you have mince, breadcrumbs and ketchup you can then add what you want.

In my meat loaf I mix beef mince, sausage meat, and egg, breadcrumbs, parsley and Rosemary, chilli flakes, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper. I then line the tin with Parma ham and put the mixture in and top with more Parma ham and shove it all in the oven. I have it with home made BBQ sauce, green beans and mash!
