What are the world's most delicious foods?
Quote:
The most delicious food in the world is Indonesia's "rendang," while the spicy cabbage dish "kimchi" is also high on the list, according to a top-50 ranking report compiled by CNN Go that was announced on Wednesday. Rendang, a beef stew made with coconut milk and a mixture of lemongrass, garlic and other ingredients that are left to simmer for hours, was voted top of the list. The list was compiled through an on-line ballot involving more than 35,000 voters on Facebook. Coming in second was another Indonesian dish, "nasi goreng," which is a type of fried rice. Japanese sushi came in third, followed by Thailand's "tom yang goong" or spicy shrimp soup, "pad thai" fried noodles and "som tam" or papaya salad. The succulent Hong Kong dumplings called "dim sum," Japanese "ramen" noodles, Peking duck, and Thai "massaman" curry also ranked high. The most delicious Korean food was none other than "kimchi." CNN Go ranked the spicy cabbage dish No. 12 on its list and said, "Few Koreans can last more than two days without it." The marinated Korean beef dish "bulgogi" ranked 23rd, with CNN Go saying it contains "everything you need in a balanced diet." The mixed vegetable and rice dish "bibimbap" (40th) and barbecued short ribs "galbi" (41st) also made the list. Korea ranked third after Thailand and Italy in terms of the number of dishes that made it onto the list. |
