I've only very recently been made aware of this lady. Apparently, she's been the subject of many bloggers' tips for the next big thing, specifically due to this particular song. Don't know a huge amount about her apart from her real name is a less glamorous sounding Lizzy Grant and she seems to have attracted the attention of Paul Lester of The Guardian. Oh, and this song is now firmly stuck inside my head and won't go away (not that I want it to, I think it's rather beautiful).

Anyway, see what you think. I don't know her and she's not related so if you wish to rip the p*ss out of her feel free but please promise to actually have a listen before you do and try to be constructive with your criticism, eh? Oh, and before you mention it, yes, I think she's had a bit too much botox on the lips (but if those lips are genuine then I apologise unreservedly to Ms del Rey).

Blue Jeans has recently surfaced on her Youtube page, worth a listen:

She also has an older album under her real name circling around the internets if you fancy hearing any of her older stuff.

I'm not too keen on any of her music really. Sounds a bit boring.

Yes, I'm more than a little obsessed with this amazing song at the moment The really embarrassing thing is I have purposefully not listened to even one other song by her just in case this song really is a one-off fluke and she's actually nothing special at all

I think Blue Jeans is even better than Video Games!
Anyway, I really like this woman. I think she sounds like a more interesting Christina Perri. Im keen to see how she progresses and if she will become a huge star.

It's a grower. It has a beautiful melody, but something about it comes across as bland; can't put my finger on it.What are those "she's a fraud" comments on YouTube??

The song got a very impressive 85% average score on radio 1s review show last night. I'm almost embarrassed to say I lsiten to this song maybe 5 times a day and I still absolutely love it, it's just mesmerising. And O.Michel, I know where you are coming from, it really doesn't 'go anywhere' like a lot of great songs should do but I just think the whole thing is just beautiful.

PS The 'she's a fraud' stuff is from the hipster bloggers who originally fell for her thinking she was 'indie' when it actually transpires she's not really 'indie' at all and would appear to have had money spent on her. I believe she appears to be signed to an indie label but is really the 'property' of Interscope. They are very indignant that they have effectively been taken for a ride somewhat. I won't lose any sleep over these hipster types getting a soaking.

I'm obsessed with Blue Jeans. I love the quickfire middle 8 where she sounds all Gwen Stefani and then the lovely chorus.

Just a heads up for those who are into Ms del Rey or those who may be merely curious; she's appearing on Later with Jools Holland this week. Should be interesting. Can she 'cut it' live?

I'm sure some will accuse you of severe hyperbole but I actually agree with you! It's seemingly impossible to get sick of this song. And i (embarrassingly) find myself singing random lines from it in my head. A lot

PS FINALLY plucked up the courage to listen to her other stuff. As Makson stated, Blue Jeans is just brilliant as well. Not sure about the Gwen Stefani vocal comparison, I hear Cindi Lauper more in that song. Some of her older stuff is fantastic as well. I think she could be absolutely huge.

Kinda outta Luck:

Just a reminder that Video Games/Blue Jeans are available to download on iTunes right now. Just downloaded them a while ago.
Really hopes she has huge success with these.

Video games and Blue Jeans are nice songs. Not amazing in my opinion but nice to listen to. I don't see her being hugely successful but you never know, those songs may catch on with the general public. I have my doubts about the rest of her material. New artists that the blogosphere get excited about don't usually live up to the hype when it comes to the rest of their songs and the album.

She's clearly shatting herself but I actually loved it. And I really was worried about how she would sound live.

PS And unlike seemingly most other straight blokes I don't actually find her that physically attractive so I can't be biased in that way.

wow, she was VERY nervous performing there as her eyes were darting everywhere but it just made the overall performance all the more endearing. It actually worked perfectly for the song really. Something about her is so captivating though..just great stage presence.

On another note, her Video Games LP is #1 on Irish iTunes

Excellent news about the Irish iTunes. Just checked Amazon to see when her album is released and it's 23/1/12. Amazingly, it is #266 in music bestsellers already. Believe me, that's an amazing position for an album that isn't released for 3.5 months!

I'm so transfixed with her voice.

She is going to be MASSIVE next year. I think she might end up being bigger than Lady Gaga.

Have you heard Blue Jeans? EPIC and I'm not usually a fan of this music.

Little disappointed there isn't more of a buzz about her on this forum, but you just know if one of the x factor lot performed her material on the show that it would just explode.
