Failure was never an option.”

Should have read the previous posts first. Just had all the same phoney "authentic" claims. And of course the presence of The Adele Fan Club alerted suspicions. At least this time round folk don't seem to be so easily duped but this PR company are the real stars of the music industry - they can somehow manage to get people to buy anything

Just done a bit more digging and her manager would appear to be somebody called Benedict Mawson?? Like I say, maninthequeue hasn't responded since his first post in here, perhaps he could give us some links to the stuff he posted?

A huge Yay ! I heard this initially on Radio Scotland ( Janice Forsyth's excellent and eclectic Sat am slot ) and then on Jools...can't wait for the album

I saw, your post and done some redigging I think I've been duped and taken something as a fact when re-reading the article again I think it was arch-sarcasm, as it was posted on the US Hipster Runoff website who seem to be treating her as the anti-christ at the moment. (What about the other 99.8% of commercial acts making inferior material).

Yes, always take what Carles/his cronies say with a huge pinch of salt when it comes to Ms Del Rey. That man has a real problem.

PS There's no secret about where I got the info from, it's there for all to see on her facebook page. The rest took about 5 mins on google.

Note that the 2 directors are Benedict (Ben) Mawson and Edward (Ed) James Millett.

Now observe her facebook info page again:

I do wonder whether she blew Carles (or one of the HR writers) out at some point.

He is not one to talk about authenticity, as his own backstory is completely apocryphal. I've always suspected "Carles" is the pet project of a PR or journalist, and there's more than one involved.

At least this video proves she really did live in a trailer park, something I know detractors have always queried. Shows a bit of moral fortitude IMO, given the fact that her dad is (very?) rich.

I only found out about her a few weeks ago and she is definitely my favourite artist at the moment. I'm so excited that I'm seeing her live in about two weeks! I was reading an interview the other day and she said that the second single will be called Born To Die, which will be released late December/early January. Lana Del Rey also said that she's thinking about calling the album Born To Die as well. She said her album was originally coming out sometime in March but they're thinking about releasing it in January now.

This girl is going to be huge - and deservedly so. She's fantastic - Video Games and Blue Jeans are on loop for me at the mo. I really, really like her.

I'm not interested in her background or her management. There is something that seems quite calculated and choreographed about her as an artist (similar to Duffy in that respect in my opinion) but I'm only interested in the music. I've yet to hear more than 2 good songs but maybe they are saving them for the album. I only hope the cutesiness is kept to a minimum because I find that annoying rather than endearing and it would really put me off.

Video Games #13 in Ireland, #3 in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Video games was released on 7" vinyl this week. What worries me is what people are paying for it.

Especially when you can buy it from HMV for £5.99. Silly people. I have to say though, i'm seriously considering buying 5 or 6 copies then sticking all except 1 on Ebay and seeing what i get. Quite a few BUY IT NOWs are making a nice profit.

Lana is no more managed than Lady Gaga is yet it never bothered people how fake Gaga's background was when her career started.

All I know about Lana is that she is fantastic and sure of big things.

Wow. No idea if this is from when she was just Lizzy Grant or not. I'm going to have to try and get that album she recorded and was on iTunes for a month or so.

Oh I didn't see this thread. This is definitely among my favourite songs of the year, she's got a beautiful voice.

Charted at #9 today too! Nice to see it be recognised!

Yes, #9 will do for me, lol. I think she may be more of an album seller, personally, but time will tell. There's loads of 'Lizzy Grant' stuff appearing on youtube now, I'm pleased to say.

I found a folder full of several songs she recorded. The majority are for the album she recorded which got shelved. I find her sound different and something that isn't present in the charts. She is mix of several genres.

Here's the track listing for her debut album that got pulled pretty sharpish. Apparently it was called Lana Del Ray But others say it was called 'Nevada'? Most of the songs are now up on youtube.

Gramma (Blue Ribbon Sparkler Trailer Heaven) (3:55)

Yeah that's the one im listening to now

Bright lites and Gramma are good. The rest are a bit meh. But you get a grip of where she could be going when she release an album.

Looks like Q Magazine are of the same opinion as some of us on this thread.

Quote:
“Adele, Coldplay, Lana Del Rey pick up Q Awards; U2 given special prize

Other winners at the event, which took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, included Coldplay (Best Act In The World Today), Noel Gallagher (Q Icon) and Lana Del Rey (Q Next Big Thing).”

I saw this girl on a blog, saw her face and thought "Oh my god it's Natalie Portman with butchered lips". After seeing photos of her as Lizzie Grant, she had such an adorable looking smile. Why the hell did she... nevermind. So I actually decided to check out her music and then heard 'Video Games' featured in an episode of Ringer.

I have to say, never have I actually be stunned by an artist before. This girl is the real deal. Her voice is sooooo good. Such a talent.

2012. Here she comes. A star is born.

It is a little sad that she had to change her name but she is a breath of fresh air amongst the certain individuals who are still out there whoring music charts.

Have to agree. I've gone from someone who thought Video Games was fantastic but actually dare not listen to anything else for fear of disappointment (maybe that amazing song was just a lucky fluke? it's happened before). Only a few weeks later I think I've listened to every LDR song available on youtube and have become an unashamed massive fan. A major new talent IMO. Even her demos are bloody fantastic!

I can already tell she will be insufferable next year. It's QOB (Queen of Beige) all over again. Damn you Adele.
