Crossroads turns 40

If it was still with us Crossroads would celebrate its 40th birthday this November and this should not go unnoticed. A few years ago BBC 2 had an ATV theme night hosted by Jane Rossington to mark that channel’s 40th anniversary- even though ATV had long since departed our screens. I think a similar tribute to Crossroads showing some classic episodes- or at least those that were not wiped by ATV – is in order.
Given that the two modern versions of Xroads were written off as nothing more than a daydream in the final episode why not create a one off episode taking up the story some years after the original Xroads left off. For example the episode could begin with Jill Richardson answering the phone with: Hello Crossroads Motel may I help you? Jill is widowed and runs the motel with her son and daughter- sound familiar already? The episode could centre on Meg’s funeral- I don’t think it was ever mentioned that she died in the original show. This would be an opportunity for past characters to come back and meet up again e.g. Adam, Benny, the Hunters etc- Sue Nicholls could also reprise her role as Marilyn Gates.
Any other ‘original’ Crossroads fans have any suggestions?

It's a shame that the 40th Anniversary is being largely forgotten, maybe the 50th will get more attention.

The Crossroads Appreciation Society do have a celebratory magazine coming out soon to celebrate the occasion.

As much as i enjoyed the 2 revamped Crossroads, i very much doubt ITV would do a tribute show to mark its birthday considering that they axed it. If it was still on air (but didn't have that long gap of how long was it, 13 years?) then perhaps they would have done a tribute show.
