Youview in France?

PVR has packed up and so I need a new box. We're moving to France next Easter and so I want something that will work there.

At the moment I use Sky freesat in Brittany - no problems. My dilema is:

Should I wait till Humax bring out their YouView box next year - will the on demand stuff work in France? I'll have broadband but will i player connect? At the moment you can't get on any demand player on the PC in France - that part of the site is always blocked - I assume it's a licensing thing.

Any help greatfully received. If YouView won't work in Europe, I might as well buy a Humax Foxsat HDR now.

A VPN subscription and a bit of custom configuration will enable all.

I think if and when YouView shows its head that the first ones will use the Freeview for the majority of programs.

Automan.

The core specification is for 2 x DVB-T2 tuners, no details have yet been released of any S2 based alternatives. YouView is very specifically aimed at the digital terrestrial market in the first instance.

If you get a suitable connection like VPN, you can access IPlayer and ITVPlayer from the Humax Foxsat HDR.

In Brittany you MIGHT be able to receive terrestrial signal from a UK transmitter depending obviously on your location - close proximity to the Channel Islands being an obvious example.
