I don't think they did....several people posted earlier that they thought RCA were pitting Alex up against Leona thus bringing her into it....which isn't true anyway as Leona hasn't been confirmed for March yet....

I do love both artists, but it's just tiring when these arguments just break out every time they are mentioned together.

Started what

Someone mentioned Leona and Alex having a chart battle due to the single date moving. I made comment that Alex should win a chart battle with Leona fairly easily. My honest opinion, based on the current state of their careers and the level of radio support both currently recieve.

Leona was already part of the conversation. Am I supposed to lie or supress my opinion on the off-chance that some over-sensitive Leona stan won't agree with what I say

If I said the exact same thing about Cher Lloyd (that Alex should easily be able to beat her in a chart battle if they went up on the same week), literally no one would care (in fact, most would probably agreee with me, and move on). It'd just be seen as a a standard part of the conversation.

But because it's Leona, as usual you get half a dozen of her stans overracting and descending like flies to "defend" her and moan about Alex fans. She wasn't being insulted. Realistically, she's not a big UK singles artist right now, and doesn't have the same commercial radio support as Alex. Some Leona fans need to grow up and start facing reality, imho. It's literally like some Leona fans expect you to kiss her arse 24/7 and just lie to spare their feelings. You can't even have adult conversations about potential chart placements without some fragile fan getting all "offended" on Leona's behalf.

exactly and that is my take on it. some individuals are understandably excited over alex`s new music and have got a bit carried away. unfortunately, its easier to pick faults in others than to admit that they are at fault. even after an overwhelming amount of posters in agreement that they were out of order, its obviously too difficult for them to accept.

what should be a happy occasion with the new releases coming up, this thread has left a bad taste. her biggest supporters fail to see how off putting their behaviour is.

If you don't like what is being said in this thread then slamming other posters is not the way to show it.

the best way to avoid it is to give up posting in her threads, lose interest in her completely. its ironic that her fans enthusiasm is having the reverse effect.

Except the "overwhelming amount of posters in agreement" almost all happen to be Leona fans...gee, whiz, what a conicedence

Like I said, Leona has the most ridiculously oversensitive fanbase on DS. I could have said the same thing about a dozen other UK acts without this reaction.

To be honest it makes no difference whether you give up posting here or not.

Attributing minor fluctuations in her fanbase to her fans 'over enthusiasm' is just ridiculous and hyper-sensitive. Do you really expect people to water down their opinions just because you may not like what is being said.

I don't know what this reverse effect is...3/5 singles she released went to #1 so she hasn't lost any fans over that 2/3 year period.

All fanbases are sensitive to perceived slights on their favourites. Haven't you read ones where Lady Gaga, or Britney's names come up?

It's just that some Leona fans also follow Alex's career and a number wish her well too. But you can't expect them to ignore what you say about Leona, particularly when you adopt such a combative tone.

The original comment about the chart battle was actually quite neutral. It does seem unlikely that the label would want to risk pitting the two against each other whoever you think is likely to win because there could be collateral damage and they might well want to focus publicity on one at a time. Leona is with RCA in the US so I am sure that there might be some co-ordination of campaigns.

The thing is that none of us have crystal balls and we have no idea how well Alex/Leona will do for their lead singles.
No one can dispute that overall Leona has sold more records worldwide than Alex, that is fact. Whether this will change in the future remains to be seen. I would be delighted if Alex had great success in US and worldwide, but this is in the future. Again, all I can say is that we should be celebrating the fact that we have these 2 lovely singers in the UK (both completely different sort of artists), and be happy for whatever success they achieve.
I always support Alex when there is someone that knocks her down, but at the same time, they are both in a cut throat industry and who knows how things will pan out, all I am interested in is listening to good music and thankfully both Alex & Leona do this for me. I honestly do not believe 'Leona fans' started this.
Boxfresh, you can believe in what you like, and post what you like, but so can everyone else, we just have to agree to have different opinions on whether Alex would walk all over Leona, in the meantime I will continue to enjoy the music from both, regardless of who is the most successful, past, present or future.

This is exactly how I feel, but I couldnt word it correctly.

I am a big fan of Leona and Alex and I hope both are successful.
