Wel, I've an archos 101 internet tablet and they both run on Android 2.2. It should be a similar if not identical process.

Go into:
Applications>Settings>Display>Screen timeout and then select the 'never timeout' option. This will allow you to set the time delay before the screen goes blank.

Also, check the Power Management option (also in settings),; About Device> Power Management>Deep sleep and uncheck this.

Thanks for the advice..he checked but his only goes up to 30mins.

and he has no power managament options in his.

But has found an app that has open screen suite that allows you to select applications that you want the advent to never sleep when in use.

So think he is happy with that...for now..

If you haven't already done so, just check for a firmware update in case your Vega hasn't got the latest software. Go to About Device to check what version of Android it's on. I've seen that it should run on 2.2 (Froyo), but may need to be updated once out of the box. It might allow these new power / sleep options - odd otherwise if there's no user preference available.

But hopefully another Vega owning member might be able to help, if you still need it.

Sounds like the APP control APP is certainly a perfect choice.
Apps also often have 'don't sleep' in their settings.

One can't argue with the iPad being simple.

I love my Vega.

I've been using it to watch videos while I'm on the treadmill.

It can do everything an Ipad can and more with a bit of modding.

Check out this site

http://android.modaco.com/forum/474-...vegamodacocom/

It's relatively easy to mod a Vega as they are hard to brick but you need to know enough to get yourself out of trouble if things do go wrong.

There are a couple of Roms you can use to mod the vega, I've used the r8 mod which is close to the original one. Vegacomb is latest mod but still a work in progress.

The vega cannot cannot be bricked, you can always get it into recovery.

The first step for anybody wanting to put a custom rom onto the vega as you say is modaco.

If you get want the more advance vegacomb 3.2, visit Table Roms

f you've got a Vega you have to mod it, it's crap outta the box. As mentioned by TheToonArmy put Vegacomb on it,

This is the guide I used to install Vegacomb or any Rom you want for that matter.

Obviously don't use the old Vegacomb 1.7. Join TabletRoms and download Vegacomb 3.2 use that instead

I thought it was a balanced reply.

There is good and bad in everything.

More balanced than the ruder reply you deleted yes.

Obviously if you are referring to the 'simple' reply then yes.

It took me 15 minutes to figure what you were talking about.
Whatever it was would have been an attempt at humour.

It just proves that there is good and bad in everything so the good joke was almost immediately deemed bad.

Well humour is a very subjective thing and can sometimes be lost in text.

So i will assume that on that occasion my sense of humour had a slight bypass.

Seems the ROM is based on the code for the Transformer.
It certainly useful for nVidia who have a massive platform lead with Tegra,

Supposedly an Advent Vega 2 comes out at the end of the month. I imagine with a better screen and Honeycomb too.

The screen definitely needs to be upgraded. It's really difficult having to keep at a right angle to the screen so it won't go dark if you go 1 degree off.

I love the Vega because of the ability to mod it so much. I've just installed Corvus5 which runs very similar to the r8 mod, but has a few touches that makes it slightly better.

The accelerator works better. Although I still can't get it to connect to a adhoc network.

I thought setting it to bright solved much of that.

" Horizontal and vertical viewing angles are good, although at extreme angles colour accuracy starts to diminish."

I'm putting Corvus5 on mine tonight. I went from C8 to Vegacomb but while VC is purty, it is still too buggy for what I'm doing and restricts some of the apps I want to use, eg Android Booster.
