Alesha Series

So lets hope this one is too. Hope Russell and Edwina GTFO by Week 6 Max

It is already a million times better then last year because it hasn't been hijacked by an Ann Widdicombe clone.

Series five girl myself too. I watched from the beginning but series five was the pinnacle of my love affair with strictly! No other series has come close!

That said I like the mix this series and am very hopefully of really enjoying all the couples (with a few exceptions of course!)

Add to this mix a truly genuine and great spirit amongst the competitors, plus some truly incredible work from our amazing pro dancers, made it the best and most naturally balanced series ever for me, and I have watched from the beginning.”

EXACTLY! - That is all....nothing to add....nuff said!

I thought some of the partnerships looked good on Saturday, but think the beeb has fallen into the trap of trying to fight off the ageism rows it has had to contend with since ditching Arlene, by bringing in far too many oldies. Quite honestly I don't think anyone will hold a candle to Kara Toignton; last years' show was the best for me for her alone!

Chelsee "I'm-still-single - giggle-giggle-giggle" Healey is, I presume, the youngest this year, and my only reaction seeing her on Saturday, was 'poor Pasha'. [Maybe - hopefully - I'll be proved wrong]

Its the first time I actually liked the kick off show, its was great really was, and to be fair Bruce was on form, really was.

I hid behind the sofa when Russell grant was on, but in the group dance effort I hooted at the TV, he just loved it he really did.

The judges were also on form with their quick remarks (except Alesha as usual).

Think Russell will be the new Anne W/John S so prepare for lots of arguements there why he should or should not be in yadda yadda.

Nancy whatshername, what planet is she on? Not of this world is that woman, hope Anton puts her in her place. I did hear that the beeb sent her a black cab to take her back to hotel and she sent it away as it did not have tinted windows - PMSL

Think Dan Lobb looks a bit shaky as does that giant of a man Audley.

I am so looking forward to this years SCD

Er, I'll come to some sort of opinion when it's actually started

True, it's pretty early to be talking about this year being the best. I think each year is good for different reasons and probably this one will be, too.

For me the show was definitely better when it was still for charity. Everyone seemed more relaxed because if they went out, hey, they had still earned a lot of money for charity!

Does anyone know why they stopped the Charity aspect ?

ps does everyone know about the new red button commentary this series and the new look ITT ?

Do you remember way back in the day when phone lines were open all week!

My favourite series was 5- it had an incredibly strong line-up (Beacham, Brook, Jones, Lancaster!) and the standard of dancing was also incredible.

I suspect that it got caught up in the BBC navel gazing after the scandal over dodgy phone-in competitions on ITV.

There are complications as soon as they start charging for voting even if the money is going to charity.

It does seem a shame that a charity can't benefit from all those phone calls....
